An observation and a question

Why so jumpy ? What I meant was that if you want more nice graphics you could have a nice graphical sig. Pfft.

Resizing something to 100x100 or 100x125 and applying the "sharpen" function once or twice really isn't that hard. Some images don't work for small avatars anyway (like when there are many details on it etc). I think the current size is just fine, only thing I miss is that the forum doesn't auto-downsize the images, like I know it from other fora.

Shouldn't this be in Site Feedback, though?

Welcome to NMA anyway, Four Suited Jack ;)

There's no need for big avatars screwing up the layout of the site.
Yes, especially if you are using a monitor with native resolution 1280x1024 or less. In that case, such a big avatar is covering nearly 1/4 of the screen. :)

I think the forum should allow avatars of any size. We should also all have giant signatures with huge pictures and blinking images. I need more stimulation.

Yeah it would be better if this forum would induce epileptic seizures. 8-)

Seriously though I like the "old school" style and feeling of NMA.

I dunno, they seem perfectly fine. So long as the boundries don't fuck with tables (which they don't) all is good.

also if you don't want shitty looking images, don't use jpg. and resize carefully,

Hm..., since I am fairly poor at remember names, I tend to associate avatar with the handle/person. That's why I get confused when people change them frequently. There are also some people that use the same avatars, and that gets more confusing.

I mean, this isn't the "face"book, so having a little something to ID someone with makes interactions a bit easier.

As for the "look at me!" thing, well, we do have a what do you think of my avatar thread, right? :P

And Jack, don't need to be defensive. since people that need to put down others' hobbies or enjoyment to make themselves feel better are quite sad in my opinion. I have been using this one for almost 10 yrs, if one counts the old board. As long as you don't go beyond regulations, I don't see the problem.

Monocle pony deserves to be bigger, but OTOH NMA's avatar policy makes it viable to browse from my shitty work computer with limited processing power and screen width. Loading forums with more liberal avatar/signature rules frequently causes IE to crash on that machine.
