Where'd That 6th Toe Come From?
So, after watching solyaris, his most accesible film, I was wondering... is there any others that I should get into? I've heard some good things about Stalker(played the semi adaptation of it). Problem is, his films aren't exactly easy to come by here in canada.

So if anyone has a list of other films for the beginner to watch, I'd be intrested and or details in which to obtain said films.(I don't have a credit card, they are tools of the devil)

Also, what's your opinion on his films? Specifically stalker.

stalker is genius.

watch it 3-5 times a year, and slowly, oh so slowly, all its facettes will shine in irradiated light.

or so. cheers, you scumbags!

Solyaris, Stalker, Andrey Rublyov and Offret, I'd say.

I've seen Solyaris and Stalker. Also another film, but it was on TV and i didn't catch the begining so i don't know it's title.

I figure if you like Solaris you'll love Stalker and Andrei Rublov.

For philosophy go Stalker. For Russians getting raped by Mongolians, go Rublov.

Stalker is a work of art...and Andrey Rublyov (while some think it drags on a bit) is absolutely amazing and requires a couple views at minimum to fully appreciate it...

i have watched it with english subs and in german translation, so my guess is there is an english version out there. i would try a translated version, subs de-focus me from whats happening on the screen too much, especially when the dialogues are somewhat complex.

I watched Stalker last night, eventually succumbing to an well, yeah you know the internet.

Anyways, I thought it was phenominal. I mean, I heard complaints that it dragged on, but the cinemotography was so brilliant that it didn't matter if the scenes were sometimes 10 minutes long(getting up out of bed seen) Everything was beautifully in ruin.

The discussions within the movie really hit a nerve with me, as I related to the writer scientist and the stalker, there motives and then there changed motives.

*Spoilers*

What I was really curious about though, is what is everyone's interpetation about Stalker coming back, losing faith in humanity, and then his daughter monkey pushing the glass well, the middle one out of three off the table? I read quite a few different messages in that scene.

I noticed a lot of religious overtones, spefically The Stalker's worry about other people just simply 'believing' It was done tastefully though.

Funny thing is the place hasn't changed much. And by place I mean the one you see with railroads. Its next to our old town next to sea, guess that explains the thick fog.
