Amazing.

Here we have this huge thread about anime and so far NO ONE has uttered a word about Slayers.

I shall remedy that immediately.

I've never actually met a person who owned a Streamload account (not a Freeload account). I've got about 64 gigs of anime on a Streamload account (freeload) that I've never even touched. Most of it is in Real Media format which I loathe so I wouldn't downloaded it anyway if I had a paid account.

Thank you for the message.

There is an other new about Streamload.com, now a Freeloader can download only a file about _20 Mb_ daily, so we can't hope
to download anime episodes..

Sigh...
I'd like to see "Kite" (in alla format), somebody knows
a ftp site where I can dowload it, please?
thank you

The pros and cons of Anime and Manga and my favorite Animes.

^_^ I am so glad someone brought up this topic, I have loved anime since I was in 6th grade and I still love it now (11th grade) I started out when my Japanese exchange student gave me a copy of Macross Plus, I was hooked. I think that anime is better than American stuff for a few reasons. In terms of Anime, (not Manga, I'll talk about that later) it has better storylines usually and is a lot more pleasing to watch because of the art style. When Anime is compared to American cartoons, it is better in almost every way. The animation does generally have a lower cel per second count but the animation also has a lot more detail. (Keep in mind this is Anime/Cartoons, not Manga/Comics) Also the backgrounds are a lot more detailed. Anyone who has seen The Vision of Tenku Escsaflowne can account for that. Also the "camera" angels are a lot more creative and interesting. Some anime has VERY poor animation... so you don't have to watch it.

Now, Manga, the comics of Japan, how amazing they are. I must admit that American comics put up a MUCH bigger fight than American cartoons, they are NOT one in the same. My favorite Manga/Comic is American, maybe you have heard of it, Scud: The Disposable Assassin. I just love that so much ^_^. Also There are many other good American comics. Manga can have a huge range. The Sailor moon Manga is the worst thing I have ever seen in my life. I can't scan a page because it has throw-up all over it. But things like... well anything by Masamune Shirow, are simply amazing. I personally thing both Manga and Comics have their strengths and weaknesses. They are pretty even at the moment in my opinion.

Now my favorite Animes ^_^:

BubbleGum Crisis (OVA)
Neon Genesis Evangelion (TV and Movies)
Akira
Macross Plus (Movie and OVA)
DragonBall Z (TV, Movies, and OVA)
Mermaid Scar
The Vision of Tenku Escaflowne (TV)
Cowboy Bebop
Gun Smith Cats
Hades Project: Zeorymer
Ninja Scroll
Ghost in the Shell
Trigun
Samuari Troopers (OVA and TV)
Dominion Tank Police (OVA and TV)
Apple Seed
Record of Lodoss War (OVA)
Ruroni Kenshin (OVA and TV)

...The list goes on and on. I actually collect Anime Cels. If you don't know what those are, I suggest you go to http://www.cels.org and find out. It’s a very fun hobby. Here is my page with all of my Anime Cels on it http://www.geocities.com/animevillainsunite/index.htm and my email is there if anyone wants to drop me a line.

So long,
Larg0

RE: Philistine? No, a person with an opinion.

If you like D&D I recomend you try slayers. It's funny as hell and has a unique edge that many series lack.

RE: The pros and cons of Anime and Manga and my favorite Ani

I LOVE Trigun. It is a very good mixture of humor, slick moves, and good plot twists. It sorta reminds me of that old American cartoon Lucky Luke, don't know if any of you are falmiliar with it. Trigun seems to take some inspiration from it, even though it is much different overall.

Another anime that I really like is Devil Man, though I only saw two episodes of it. I think it has a very cool plot.

Trigun is really funny. I really like his voice (Japanese, subbed) because it can change instantly from debonaire to comical. It's also funny because he's so good for looking so careless. The manga is also very good.

Green Legend Ran!!!!!

this one really rules, great post-apocalyptic atmosphere and also in some ways reminds me of the great John Difool comics by Alexandro Jodorowsky and Moebius

Um, even the most crappy-quality Real movie garbage is at least 30 megs. Unless you have a Streamline account (www.streamline.com) I'm not willing to send anything to anyone (except to trade, and only for high quality stuff). I can send whatever junk I have on Streamline to anyone who actually owns an account because #1, I don't use the account, #2, they're all Real movies (bleh) with only a few exceptions, #3, I don't personally own an account, and #4, there's about 60 GB on there. Don't even bother me if you don't own an account (paid account), as you can't download anything that's over 20 megs anyway.

If you want to download anime go on IRC. Try DALnet, channel #animemovies.

RE: Someone said the magic word... ::drooling::

I have an account, (paying one that is). Only $8 a month is a very good deal. Get to see anime of low quality at a cheap rate.
Not being able to see much of the artwork isn't too bad, you can still hear it and get the story line.

And before someone says I should use the $8 to order some stuff offline, all the mail sent to my dorm at colldge is 'inspected' and things dubbed inappropriet are thrown out without notification. This includes games, magazines, and videos of any kind.

Welp if you can't send it I understand, streamloader doens't exactly have a user friendly web site.

Thanks anyways.

No, I said I wouldn't send it if you had a Freeloader account, because Freeloaders can't download anything of any real size. If you have a paid account (Streamload) I will send you what I have on my account, I just need to know the username.

RE: The pros and cons of Anime and Manga and my favorite Ani

I recomend to anyone looking for an anime with depth in it try watching Vision Of Escalfowne. I recently brought(legally) the 26 episodes of it and I was absolutely astounded by the depth this went into. DBZ really should have finished after frieza but unfortunatly the pull of the fans(and the moneygrubbing people behind the scenes) pushed the story on, while there were some awesome moments later on it just went on to far. Also if you're getting the funimation dbz eps over there take note that alot has been cut out of them and they are rather pathetic compared to the originals, much more realistic(in some ways) and deffinatly is the way dbz was supposed to be watched.

Yeah I've got the 26-episode set (or rather my sister), I've also got the soundtracks (all four) which came with it (for $150 total).

What's cool though is that I downloaded some SVCD versions of the episodes. The quality is simply amazing over the VHS version.

Vision of Escaflowne is a very good Anime to get started on as it is one of the better quality ones.

I don't like DBZ much, it's what I consider a "junk" anime which is low in quality and really doesn't have much in the way of story or plot.

another anime fan here!!!

i think the dbz cartoons are great! offcourse i'm talking about the original uncut japanese episodes. over here in the netherlands we can only watch the crappy-toonami-badly-dubbed-version (CTBD) on cartoon network.
anime movies i really like are:

Akira (duh!)
Ninja Scroll (got it on dvd (the one with the censord rape scene)
Dragon Ball Z movie 12 rebirth of fusion (Janenba rulles!(got it on divx, in japanese with english subs, but i would love to have it on video)
Ghost in the Shell (i like the manga better, but the animation is pretty cool!)
Tank Police (hilarious!)
Battle Angel Alita

i haven't seen allot of the latest animes (because of my money sortage :(

They're the worst.

>Akira (duh!)

I've got two versions. The first is the ASF version that is found everywhere which was made using a digital camcorder recording a person's TV screen playing a VHS copy of AKIRA. It's like a movie theatre cam, only worse.

The second copy I've got is a DVD rip in Japanese with English subtitles. The problem with this version is that it is a crappy-quality encode for such a large file (800 megs). You can see blocks a whole lot in there. The quality isn't the big issue I have with this version of AKIRA, it's the Japanese translation that is used. The grammar and spelling is HORRIBLE ("parliament" was spelled "perliment"; tense disagreement, etc.), and it's all done in COURIER font, BLEH! To top it all off, I never actually finished the second file of the AVIs; I only have 20 megs more. The dude's system is screwy too, so he doesn't support resume... arrghhh..

>Ninja Scroll (got it on dvd
>(the one with the censord

Never seen the censored version... the voice acting in the dubbed version is really bad.

>Ghost in the Shell (i like
>the manga better, but the

>Battle Angel Alita

GITS is the only anime I prefer over the manga. The manga wasn't very unified in my opinion, whereas the anime seemed to have an actual purpose.

I just download mine. :)

Kewl! Do you use a program for downloading or do you just download'em from sites?

RE: another anime fan here!!!

I get them off IRC (DALnet). If you've got a good connection and don't mind waiting for hours to download (just leave the computer on all night) you can download them in channels like #animemovies #anime-hq etc.

I never download Real Media movies, they're just too crappy in quality. Download DivX movies (*.avi).

Oh yeah, be prepared to use a lot of hard drive space. A good quality single half-hour episode in DVD quality is about 120-150 megs. A full length movie will be around 600 megs.
