any difference between IN1 and IN3 stupid character ?

First time out of the vault
hi,

I've read per's walkthrough and look up this forum.

I just wondering is there any difference between IN 1 and IN 3 in terms of dialogue options ??

I know with IN < 4 is considered stupid.

if there is no difference between IN 1 and IN 3 for dialogue options, I guess I will stick with IN 3 for more skill points and boost IN to certain level in order to receive quests, perks and car.

with IN 1, even without gifted traits, I only get 7 skill points per level and I think I will have a hard time to build a strong character.

Thanks

Some minor differences in BH which are mentioned in the guide, all I know of.

alright then. I will stick with IN 3

being a retard is a real challenge for me because you can't do shit and you have very little skill points to invest.

However, being a retard is very funny by looking at the dialogues
and everyone should at least try once.

I'm still struggling not to die in the waste land because my character is too stupid to learn and level up.

That always struck me as a major drawback of the SPECIAL system. Why should a lack of intelligence, barring retard level intelligence, mar a character's ability to master the more simple skills?

Why would you need a PHD to learn Unarmed or Melee?

obviously it should apply t othings like Science, Repair and Outdoorsman (and to a lesser degree with things like Energy Weapons and Barter, but with most of the skills, a more detailed system would have been fairer. Perhaps one where skill points were gained in easch of the seven attributes and cost different amount to spend in each skill.

It would have been nice to wander the wasteland as a ST10/EN10/IN1/CH1 musclehead and not have been seriously impaired in close quarters combat. Or for a ST4/IN10 character to fail miserably in combat, rather than simpley having a lower damage modifier.

You don't. But a person's intelligence governs the speed with which he learns anything, including such things as combat. Which is why it takes a dumb character a lot longer to properly learn those things.

right,

however, I do think designer should put more quest which only stupid character can get.

so that stupid character can level up faster.

anyway, I do enjoy being a stupid character, sometime I just laughed my ass off because of those dialogue.

Actually, I don't think the stupid characters are as inbalanced as all that. Yes, the lack of Skill Points hurts, but the complete lack of any need to invest in ANY non-combat skill (except maybe lockpick) and the overload of charpoints because you don't have to invest in intelligence (and arguably less in charisma) you can pump into agility, strength and endurance means that you'll be a smackin' gun-tootin' killing machine despite your low skill level.

Also, remember that in classic p&p, characteristics usually represented more than just their name. Like Courage in the DSA system would represent both courage and willpower, intelligence represent both raw IQ and aptitude.
