Assasin's weapon

talisman

First time out of the vault
I remember a knife in fallout 1,2 - Shiv, it's called- with a description "operated like a switchblade". So I think, What's about Shiv with two option. equipped on hand, if left alone the stats of that hand look like bare fist (or foot), attacking by that hand will using Unarmed skill; shiv Switch On will act like a knife, a small percentage to cause sudden death, later on a chance to coat poison on its edge. If we can kill the victim in one turn and switch off Shiv, the guards and everyone else will not see anything, but run around a bit.

And may be a another weapon described as equiped on foot for silent kill.

Wrong Forum.

Is this a question, statement or what?

The Shiv was a bugged weapon.

It was supposed to be something you could have in an active item slot that wouldnt be detected, but wasnt compleated so it just wound up being given to whores all over.

I think he is, KoC, but no way to be sure. :?:

Anyway, i think thats a good idea, "Silent killing" would be very nice to have when playing sneaky characters... and again, a good example of this can be seen in silent storm.

The shive coated in poison would be a great addition to the fallout weapons. I think that there should also be a line of poisons in which one could inject to enemies via dart gun or modified pistol of some sort......perhaps mines?

The idea of poison is okay, but i think it would be better implemented in the form of maybie injecting combinations of drugs into people. I also think the game would rule if npcs had routines, so you could choose the perfect place to kill them, or maybie poison their food?

I like that idea, it would surve a dual purpose, in which depth is added to the game. Perhaps if they would go to the bar ever sunday and eat some bacon and eggs then go home and kick the dog...... sounds like a good idea.

Already there. The needler gun, it's shot put things to sleep. Not the exact form of drug or poison you were looking for though. Myron had one, so did one of the other Mordino scientists I believe.

good idea assasin stuff. i tink those weapons would be build-in but could be customised in the game itself as a special skill: knife+poison=poisonknife possibilities are endless...

Assassin weapons are a great idea, like Porcelin guns (or whatever htere made of) that can go undetected by Metal Detectors, Silences would be a welcome additions, and Assassin specific weapons like Piano Wire and more darts with poison, sleep, paralasis etc.

Also, as mentioned earlier NPC's should have routines, only instead of doing the same one over and over, they should have random patrol routes and behaviour. That would add to replay factor.

Ask yourself a question 7ycell.

Porcelin guns , do they fit the FO setting ?

Why not? Just because Fallout has a retro setting doesn't mean they couldn't have guns made of ceramic components. After all, they've got *advanced plasma weapons*, and I believe that there is a precedent (albeit not totally accepted) of the Advanced Power Armor MKII that was largely composed of lightweight ceramites.

Good point, I suppose that this could indeed be useful, if theres a lenghty assisans path.

AND metal detectors...........

And what makes you so sure they won't put them in? Last I heard they were barely in the planning phase.

Ask yourself: Does anybody in Fallout use metal detectors?

In the NCR the policemen only cared if you wore weapons publically (and that was not an engine limitation) and even in Vault City the only thing people checked was drugs and alcohol.

*sighs*

First, a shiv is a makeshift weapon commonly found in prisons and such places. It is usually a piece of metal sharpened on the concrete floor and wrapped in cloth or a piece of broken glass. Something like that. Not a switchblade. They're usually small though so they are concealable. A stiletto would make a much better assassin's weapon which can be hidable.

As far as poisons go, would YOU want to be carrying around a very sharp piece of metal concealed in your clothing with poison on it? I wouldn't. What if you tripped? What if the poison got rubbed off on some cloth that you then touched and accidentally touched your eye? It's easier and safer just to stab the sorry sod to death or club him.

Ceramic? Porcelain? You do realize that these would not be able to withstand the pressured generated by normal pistol cartridges? I can't remember which movie had one in it as a weapon to assassinate the President but it was crap. And don't listen to Die Hard, it lies about guns, a lot. Yes, there probably is some way to figure it out but in all likelihood it would have to fire a special round , be single-shot, and be discarded after that. Most of all, who has metal detectors in the Wastes? Who has the reason to make a gun out of ceramic? A ceramic or plastic blowgun loaded with poison-tipped darts would be safe, silent, deadly, and readily concealable. - Colt

The movie was probably In the Line of Fire. In the Fallout universe if they can make ceramic body armour that can withstand the bullet and explosive impacts then they could probably make a ceramic reusable gun, it might not even be a slug thrower but an energy weapon. Though I don't see a need for more than the shiv and pistols in general, to have fancy assassin weaponry suggests a level of society where you need to conceal your weapons and I'd rather they go back to a more frontier approach were people walked around openly with their weapons.

I agree with you on the "wild west" approach on weapons carry Requiem, but I disagree about the armor comment. As far as I remember all the advanced stuff, besides the brotherhood stuff, was made pre-war.

Besides, even if the gun was made of ceramics and couldn't be detected by metal detectors, the ammunition would be made of lead and copper still. I really don't think people would go to all the trouble of making a firearm, as well as ammunition made of undetectable materials, just so they can get through a metal detector anyway.
