What I can see is a cool company like Troika getting the Fallout license and making a good Fallout 3.
Getting? I bet they'd have to cough up more dough than they have.
I agree with Troika, though, no doubt about that. But recently, I've been thinking that maybe it would be best if Troika just came up with their own post-apocalyptic setting and game (weren't there rumours about that anyway?). That way the license would be their's and they wouldn't have to beg and pay those fucktards at IPLY.
Maybe we should learn to be glad with what we have: Fallout and Fallout 2. I honestly can't see a sequel being made today that wouldn't somehow fuck up the setting, the atmosphere, the gameplay and so on. You already know how I feel about a Fallout 3 in 3D (bwah!). The Van Buren screenshots didn't work for me, I'm sorry. They looked more like FOT, imo.
You want to know what I think: Arcanum (and the engine of Arcanum) should have been Fallout 3. It's the only game I know of that comes close to Fallout. But who will want to use a 2D engine in 2004, 2005, 2006...? No one, of course.
As for IPLY still making Fallout 3? Nah. Back in the nineties, yeah. With the same people who crafted the first games, sure. But not now. I say: bury the dreams. I say: give Troika (and maybe Obsidian) some time to come up with a new post-apocalyptic series (it'll happen sooner or later, I'm sure). They have the talent.
