First time out of the vault
okay, now that i have your attention, i had a question....

what kind of machine does it take to run fallout tactics to it's fullest potential?

im running the full north american version on a 633mhz celeron with 192mb pc100 sdram, 64mb pci ATI Radeon 7500. im running win2kpro with about 5 gigs of hard drive space to spare. problem is, this game feels awfully sluggish, in terms of scrolling and whatnot, and once the game has been exited, my OS goes into snail mode... i have to reset everytime i play to free up my resources. so is this just bloated coding, a sluggish game engine, or a lack of resources on my part?

You know I have an old system; it's a P2/400Mhz w/256Mb Ram and an ATI 7200 card. I had some problems to begin with but that may have been before I got the ATI card. It really ran fine. There was some lag when editing a big map but was not noticeable in the game.

My new system is a P4/3.06Ghz w/512Mb Ram and an ATI 9600 card. I haven't tried it much with this system but it started ok with no glitches. My guess is as long as you run a pentium and a standard ATI card with enough ram there shouldn't be any problems. Most of the complaints I've heard are with other chips but if you make sure its patched to version 1.27 you should be ok. The patch cures some memory issues which slow everything down.

Well, according to the website:
  • P2-266mhz or faster
  • 64 meg RAM minimum, 128 megs preferred
  • Direct-X 7-compatible video and sound card
So you're computer should run it quite good. It's the engine that's slow..

But did you try to run FOT using the booster

Its a good game, xcept for that whole not a true RPG thing.

But it was never meant to be an RPG! Comment on the Cannonical errors, refer to it being released early, buggy and unfinished. Say it doesn't live up to the standards of other Tactical Combat games, released previously but don't slag it off for being a Tactical Combat game and not a RPG. That's like buying a skateboard and moaning that it's okay but it isn't a pair of rollerblades.

Couldn't have said it any better myself.
