Astronauts4Hire, a nonprofit space research corporation, will conduct the tests on an Australian beer that has been brewed specifically for easy drinking in both microgravity environments, as well as here on Earth.

The beer was produced as a joint venture between Saber Astronautics Australia, a new space engineering firm, and the Australian 4 Pines Brewing Company, located in Manly, a suburb of northern Sydney.

The development of space beer is intended to coincide with the burgeoning space tourism industry, and as the market expands, industry leaders are anticipating a demand for such products.

So..., who here thinks it will probably taste like crap/space food? :P

Of course, I can understand why they wouldn't allow it on the ISS, since a drunk driver is already bad enough.., but a drunk space pilot?

Hey, it's beer, but not just any beer, it's space beer!

Because everybody knows that something is cooler if it has space on it.

Yeah, because once you're in space, you realise it's pretty boring and there's not much to talk about... Unless you've god a couple of six-packs with ya!

What an utterly retarded invention / time wasted.

Reminds me of the 'zero gravity pen' that NASA spent so much $$$ on. Except it's even more useless.

Still I am quite curious about possible upcoming 'drunk astronaut incidents' news articles.

I believe that's a urban legend. In reality they used a pencil, just like the Russians.

Nope they used a pen, but they didn't develop it. Google Fisher Space Pen Company.

^ Nope.

But, talking about useless research, here's one:

Lol at AIDS.

Fair enough about the Pen, i knew they didn't spend millions on it. Thought i remembered something about a pencil >.>

What, it's not true? What a shame, it's a good story. :(

Speaking of urban myths:
My friend says that his old buddy from primary school put a kitten in a microwave for a few seconds. Apparently it was 100% fine and lived a normal life, with one exception - it never grew. It stayed kitten-shaped. I find that very hard to believe, but part of me is thinking - what a business. Permanent kittens! :D
