OK, for many of you this doesn't mean anything, but I've got a stack of B and N gift cards that I thought I'd never get around to using, so its time to go games shopping! Heck, I saw an advert for a used N64 for $15. Not that I'd ever play it though...

Anyways, anyone have any recent games they'd like to recommend? I think its finally time to get Myst IV. I don't know why, but I've had brand loyalty since the original. You'd think Uru would have broken me of that, but NOOooo! Anyways, there aren't many newer RPGs floating around, so anyone have a favorite in another genre?

If you're up for a platformer you could pick up Psychonauts. I still haven't gotten around to buying it yet, but the demo was really fun and it had everything you would expect from a Tim Schafer game.

I'd recommend Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines and Arcanum, but I can see you already have them.

Off the top of my head: Pirates!, Gothics II, KotOR II or Hearts of Iron II.

Just got Myst IV. The wife and I recently finished Myst III (I finished it when it first came out, but we went back and played it since she hadn't bothered).

Thought Myst III was the worst of the three. Its puzzles were simplistic compared to Riven (which is my favorite), and the solutions were all self-contained in each Age. It was a fun little game in its own right though.

I've read reviews praising Myst IV, saying the puzzles are more intricate than Myst III but not as intense as Riven (don't know what you prefer). As for Uru, it appears that Cyan realizes that wasn't a good direction to go and have brought the series back on track with Myst IV. I've only played the game for about an hour thus far, but Atrus has invited you to his home because he needs your help (surprise). And I believe it may have something to do with Sirrus and Achenar...

They did that in the mid 90's. What stores have returned to it? All of them?

Whatever tipped you off to the fact I have Bloodlines?

Anyways, I thought the puzzles in Riven got a little to out of control. It was like nothing could be a simple figure out the pattern. There was always some catch or something to remove to comple the puzzle. Way to difficult. III probably made it too easy, though.

Hmmm... Hearts of Iron, I remember hearing about that when it came out. I downloaded the demo, but there was just something about realtime WWII strategy that didn't appeal to me, even though I got a lot of enjoyment out of Europa Universalis II.

Barnes and Nobles...whoring itself out to video games now? Tsk-tsk. Buy some BOOKS with those certificates, crickey!

Note: If you need *game*, buy a "Choose Your Own Adventure", heh. Those things will rock your world. I mean, come on, space vampires?!

do they still make those crazy Choose Your Own Adventure books?

I think somebody should make a website filled with that kind of crap. I'd probably whore out that site's bandwidth.

Anyway, some recently good PC games:

    Halflife 2
    Far Cry
    VTM: Bloodlines
    Sims 2
    Doom 3
    World of Warcraft
    Matrix Online

Just an aside, those bastards at B & N wouldn't hire me for the summer.

Something about not being 18 yet. Bullshit, I say!

Anyway, to contribute, here's a couple of games not to buy with your giftcards:

    Stronghold 2
    Empire Earth II

I vollunteered to review these and I'm sorry I did. They both suck. I do reccommend the following, however.

    Half-Life 2
    Pirates
Supreme Ruler 2010 (I was surprised by this one)
    Knights of Honor
    Far Cry
Soldiers: Heroes of WWII (kick-ass game)
    Hearts of Iron II

Or you could get a god-damn book :P.
