Bear Force One

First time out of the vault
Hello, I'm a long time Fallout fan but new to this forum. Anyways, it seems that the Vault Fallout wiki contradicts itself a little about the origins of Bear Force One. The wiki article on Bear Force One says "It was seized during the NCR-Enclave War and re-purposed as a private transport." But when reading the wiki article on the Shi, it says "It is stated that both James Hsu and Bear Force One are contributions to NCR from the San Francisco area." So, did the NCR get their hands on that Vertibird when they took over Navarro or did the Shi from San Francisco manufacture some Vertibirds of their own with the plans they got from the Chosen One in Fallout 2?

Did you post the same thread twenty four times? That's dedication.

Edit: They're gone now.

They really picked the worst possible name for that thing.

I would say that they got them from the Enclave as IIRC, the Shi aren't even referenced once in Fallout: New Vegas. Spoils of the Battle of Navarro, NCR fucks.

That's one thing that I was dissapointed over in FNV, there was not a single Shi reference, they were a very interesting faction for me in Fallout 2, them and the Hubies.

Yeah I know! I don't recall any mention of the Shi in New Vegas, but then again, I know I didn't talk to every single NPC and look at every single computer terminal either. I rather liked the idea that the Shi put those Virtibird plans they got from the main character in Fallout 2 to good use and made a few of their own. Then gave one to the NCR, like the Wiki suggests.

Yeah, I might have got the impression that they were just going to shuffle them off. I mean they did seem to be more powerful and advanced than they should be, taking about making Vertibirds (where?) and making nuclear fission reactors. Felt like New Vegas was trying to tone these things down to the more simplistic level of the NCR, who knows, maybe the NCR got them; not the first time they overcame a technologically advacned opponent with attrition tactics and numbers (Navarro, Vault City - technically right? - and the Brotherhood of Steel).

I think Obsidian is kinda embarrased about the Shi. They were pretty much an action movie stereotype though I did find them interesting.

I'm surprised the NCR doesn't have more vertibirds, with near total control of the west coast they should have found the plans somewhere.

Where would they be outside of Navarro or maybe the Brotherhood? I can't imagine a fight with either would leave much left to rob.

I never liked the idea of the NCR wiping out Navarro. Its hard to believe they could send an army that far and take out a huge fortified base/bunker.

I don't think their was a good ending for the Huboligists. My favorite one was:

"The Hubologist scientists, unable to figure out how to create an airtight seal on their ship, went ahead and launched it anyway, believing that the Star Father would protect them once they left earth's atmosphere. They perished in orbit."

The NCR had help from the BOS taking on the Enclave. It wasn't that far, especially compared to Vegas, and the act of maintaing or operating Vertibird might be far too much for the NCR to handle at the moment.

Did they? I remember hearing that the Brotherhood joined in the looting afterwards, tracking down the survivors for their Power Armour; but I've never heard the Remnants mention a combined assualt.

The BOS helped, presumably with the intent of letting the NCR catch some bullets and then grabbing all the high powered tech stuff and not letting the NCR have any. Which helped kick off the NCR-BOS war.

I hypothesised in my fan-fic once that the Brotherhood didn't even enter, but rather attacked NCR Ranger teams who had Enclave POWs. I know that the Remnants didn't implicate the Brotherhood in the initial assault and will go by their word; of course we will never know the full facts but I would be loathed to say that the Brotherhood actually entered Navarro - surely the NCR themselves would want to keep it all - and instead maybe picked up fleeing Enclave - bastards.

Isn't the canon ending for the Hubbies that most of them die in a rocket explosion?

Well, either they suffocate or the rocket explodes. The only difference I see is some shrapnel from the explosion hitting some random people or buildings.

Chosen One: Ahhh. I finally got every upgrade for the highwayman.
*A peice of the rocket falls on top of the car while the Chosen One has it parked*
Chosen One: FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

I was very glad that there weren't any mentions of the Shi (omg Kung Fu people!11) or the Hubologists (oh my god this Scientology reference is ohso clever!) in New Vegas. It seems they learned from the failures of Fallout 2.

Well, there is simple explanation of the Shi disappearing: Emperor's database server formatted by a random Chosen One. :)
