Best console game selection? (split from Games like Fallout)

with the exception of fighting and car games. Sports games are pretty equal.

I just have to laugh at this ignorance.

Would you mind explaining then? Fighting and car games are more common on consoles. Long time, no PC fighting game. Sports games are often multi-platform.

Are action games inherently bad? I wasn't discussing RPGs. Xbox games are often on other consoles, but they're also better than on other consoles. Check thousands of reviews and personal opinions, they'll say the same.

I thought this thread was about games like Fallout, not the Xbox. Could we stay on topic?

I found Arcanum enjoyable, but it lacks rewards for being a diplomat and the combat lacks tactics.

Buying an XBOX for this title is like rationalizing the purchase of a Neo-Geo in 1990.

I use it as my DVD player, and I no longer have to dig through my CD's to get to any of my music.......I just play it on the X-Box. It's a fairly impressive machine at that atleast, and that alone is almost worth 150.

Most are action, and at least a couple are on other consoles.
Add
Rally Sport Challange
Mechassault
etc......

Considering that most games are now on almost all consoles at once, these games, plus the DVD player, plus the music storage easily make that worth the 170 USD for the console and the DVD remote.

Straw man argument. Don't bother to try and requantify your argument again. Fighting and car games have been on the PC for quite some time, and it is where the GTA series originated.

That's nice, for when I want to play an action game on a console I'd otherwise never touch because there really isn't many other genres available for it. I'd probably look into what also plays a lot of the older titles I have, the PS2.

It's also amusing that you use fuzzy quantification, as if someone would really bother to double-check your claims.

I like the "most games are now on almost all consoles at once" remark. Where did you dig that one up? Spider-Man 2? It should be interesting to see you try and explain that one.

Cronicles of Riddick
All the James Bond games
Grand Theft Auto
Soul Caliber
etc....
Almost all modern games.

Shenmue 2

Dreamcast. But, true.
Can you speak Japanese?
Can you find a Dreamcast?
Thought not.

Panzer dragoon Orta

Came out for the PS2.
It did'nt.

I agree with this but the neo-geo ended up being a good system with an insane life span, the Xbox wont even come close.

$300 a game was a good buy eh?

Also shenmue 2 came out in English in Europe on DC, big import item.

He's right, a lot of games do come out on multiple platforms. Those are, however, usually uninteresting, because they tend to be of the same generic EA bullshit gender. Which is my reason for owning a Gamecube,(plus the fact that it cost me $100) at least it has a load of unique games, and although these games tend to be happy-shiny, they can be great fun. Especially Monkey Ball. :D

It came out in English, and sadly, I can't find a Dreamcast. Otherwise I might buy one (if for the right price) just to experience Shenmue and Shenmue 2.

Ehe. I have a hard drive MP3 player for my music (cool thing, Philipse HDD100, expensive though). In any case, paying $20 for a DVD remote is a ripoff, the Playstation 2 can play DVDs without that bullshit. The Playstation 2 also has better and more unique games, except for Ninja Gaiden, which is, supposedly, brilliant.

You're right, but it's a definate trend.

You want to get a Dreamcast, and Rosh is giving people shit because they have an XBOX?

1) I have an MP3 player, I just think the X-Box is easier cause it's connected to the TV which is connected to the sound system.
2) Yes, it does have better games, but the XBox is the superior peice of hardware, and most of the great games on the Ps-2 I have no interest in (Ico, for instance).
3) Don't have Ninja Gaiden

Split because this discussion because it really needs a thread of it's own at this point.

i have a hacked XBOX (software, no dumb hardware-modchips needed, since the BOX has a HD), so i can watch DVD's region free, can play copie games, play emulated games and watch divx, xvid and vcd. pretty cool huh? that sure's worth the 200 euro's i paid for the thing. i have a console to play the newest games on (since my PC is terribly old) and i can play all my imported DVD's and watch my favorite downloaded anime series.

and it's true that the XBOX hasn't got alot of unique titles, but who cares? the multi-platform titles look alot better on the XBOX (the PC being an exception offcourse) and the loading-times are minimal. and i think that Fable will be pretty cool. not the classic it's supposed to be, but fun to play. KOTOR was awsome! (but liniar, yes)

*snip*
Grand Theft Auto
Ahem?

GTA is PS2 only. Bill Gates found a way around never getting it on XBox, some loophole about GTA being ported to PC Windows OS after a year. This allows it to be released on XBox. After one year, not simultaneous.

Rosh is giving people shit for justifying the purchase of an XBOX BEFORE the great games arrived, well, the great game (singular). I said I wanted a Dreamcast for Shenmue and Shenmue 2, and I think that's justifiable.

1) That's your problem. Seems silly to me, though. ;)
2) Woohoo! SUperior piece of hardware! Very useful....or not.
Here's my philosophy to graphics in games: it needs to work. Full stop. When you have functional graphics, that's good enough. Because when you get a game with good graphics, you might look at it for a bit, but if the game's any good, you'll have forgotten about the graphics after about five minutes.
3) Get it. I've heard it's about the only worthwhile game on the XBOX.

I got the Xbox about a year ago now, actually, because it was a great offer. One of my biggest problems with consoles is the excessive price. But when it dropped, I bought one. Great fun, too. The reasons I didn't buy a PS2 is that a lot of games are japanese, hence they're a bit WTF. Also, I despise the FF series. I didn't really see a reason to get a PS2 over an Xbox, really, and I still don't. The gamecube was just too cute and cuddly, and the only games worth mentioning might have been Zelda, a couple of Mario games and yes, Super monkey ball. Plus many games for the Gamecube have been canceled. I just think the Xbox is the best one of the three, that's all.

Add Metroid Prime and Super Smash Bros. Melee and you have more quality unique games than any other console. :P

Yes, I kind of like Nintendo's games. That's why I bought an N64. But this gamecube, I dunno, it feels like a failure. Also it doesn't look like it has much of a future, so I chose an Xbox (my friend also has an Xbox, which makes it easier to borrow games). I would buy a Gamecube, if not for the games you mentioned, then for the next Zelda game which looks quite cool. However, I already have several consoles (used to have a Dreamcast borrowed too, but my friend took it back) and no more room/TV. Maybe I'll buy the Gamecube when it's really really low-price. $100 is still a bit too much for one or two games.

Tales of Symphonia is out today and I am on my way to get it right now! This is even more of a reason to get a Cube.

Mohrg

I'm going to buy Nmaco museum and the Midway arcade one.

As soon as Intellivion Lives hits the shelves, i'm buying
