Bethesda and IPLY taunted

Hmm Hack and Slash is not the right term because "bourrin" is an adjective and is not limited to med-fan games (like Diablo).
Diablo is an hack and slash and is "bourrin".
Serious Sam is not an hack and slash but it is "bourrin".

Ultimately

... Do you have a translation for that word?

No, I have a personal image of your word matrices.

Not tactic
Click-click-click
Fast and furious

Repetitive task, repetitive motion, repetitive emotion,

"Bourin" refocuses in my mind's eye as BORING.

From what I've heard of "Morrowind", it or any other game based on that design "vision" would bore me because 1st person "floating eyeballs" in graphic candy land ultimately remind of such stalwart screen savers as "Myst".

If Bethesda is a one trick pony and extrudes these "vision quests", on into this new century,
then I doubt I'll go looking under my bed for my enthusiasm,
think it rolled under there last week.

No, "bourrin" has nothing to do with "boring" :)
chiant, ennuyeux, emmerdant, lassant...

"bourrin" is not always a bad thing, some people like it, other don't (but most don't like it when it comes to RPGs).

No one thinks that "boring" is a good thing :)

Actually "bourrin" really means there's no strategy in combat, and that you don't have to use your mind to fight (as you do in Fallout). This can be boring for some people or enteraining for the others.

For what? A derailing so large if it happened in India 300 people would be dead?

You don`t imagine the time i spent trying to find an equivalent word in english, or even in portuguese, that would fit, so any help is welcomed.

okay people, you might be going a little bit over the top here... Doesn't the word "simple" define what he's trying to say pretty well?

Actually Macaco is closer with simple... A game like Raven Shield is not bourrin at all, but it's still reflex based, or twitchy, because you need to aim before shooting. But you have to be carefull, you need to go slowly, to prepare your action, etc...

I think frantic is a better translation.
