Parody, likely used with permission, ditto, ditto, and Starship Troopers created and popularized the modern concept of power armor.

Yes, I suppose that Bethesda might have sought and gained permission to use the names and likenesses of certain companies and their products. But, I don't think that I would bet a lot of money on it. Also, if rights where granted by the owning companies, the "is a trade mark of" or "used with permission" credits, and "Thanks to..." would have been given.

Heinlein did not create the concept of power armor. Heinlein borrowed and expanded on the idea of self-powered space armor from the writings of E.E. "Doc" Smith, a sci-fi writer of the 1930.

Most firearm companies view it as free advertising, it's the same reason they allow so many movies to use their weapons. Most games don't change weapon names so I don't know why those that do change them do. If so many games have had real weapon names without permission then the companies wouldn't have a case to sue (at least not over a specific game) as they hadn't protected their mark in the past, thus are breaking precedent to target a specific product. Sure, they could still try to intimidate but the case would not go their way and they would likely have to pay the defense's legal fees.
