Don't get me wrong, I love being an asshole, but do we really want asshole bethesda, the creators of asshole oblivion to make asshole fallout?
In my humble opinion, their asshole kat people, asshole orcs a and asshole human designs and animations are so flawed, disjunctional and ugly that they come nowhere near the graphics and sense of style that was fallout.
And don't get me started on asshole oblivion gameplay.

I mean, hasn't the fallout franchise been raped enough by F:BOS (and FOT)? does it have to be assraped now as well?

Imo the only ones capable of doing fallout 3 are the modders here in this forum. At least them wont rape fallout core.

Is there going to be a point to this thread that hasn't been brought up (in the correct forum) a million times over already?

No.

Guys don't vat this, that is the best Oblivion review EVER!

Emil is going to to kill me now  but it's true...

You have a point there... but it's just refreshing to see those things written, although this really shouldn't be in this forum.

And it will end in spam, again...

It will end in the Vats. I'm just benevolent enough to let the postcounts flourish...

Speaking of which - you beat my post count! I'm no longer the number 3 poster on NMA!

Damn you, Silencer! Damn you to hell! I have labored far too long to have all my efforts to become the premier poster on NMA thwarted at this point! I'll get you for this, you spammy Polak!

If only bethesda could end in the vats...

Did anyone here actually have the stomach to play througt the entire oblivion and morrowind? I got nowhere near close to finishing before puking all over my keyboard...

as far as character designs, it took me for friggin ever to make a Oblivion character that actually looked realistic (and yes, i played all the way though), but then, the Fallout people were nowhere near realistic either in facial features.

my big worry, besides them raping the storyline, is taking away the extremism that we've all grown so fond of, the nudity, the disembowling, the foul language, the icing of the game so to speak.

imagine the "asshole Oblivion" engine with all the same "icing" as FO1 & FO2. you could cut somebody in half with a laser rifle, then use the grab ability in the Oblivion game (which needs to be reworked) to pull out thier intestines to decorate your walls.

Yes, I believe Bethesda will completely wind up raping Fallout. They're making it on the Oblivion/Morrowind engine, which pisses me off. We all know that the systems, storylines, and sub-storylines that made Fallout so completely kick-ass will be damn near extinct. Bethesda will make the game look good, but that is all. It will be good (not excellent, but good) graphics with very little substance. Prepare for Fallout 3: The Dumb-Ening!

Of course, there is the little fact that Fallout 3 is a cursed project. Wastelands 3, when it was going to be originally released, completely flopped, when it could have and should have made it. Then, when Interplay/Black Isle decided they were going to make Fallout 3, that went bunk. I can only hope that Bethesda has the same kind of thing happen to them.

Gamebryo huh?... Well, it can be identified in a game quite clearly, although the engine itself can be used if very different games. For instance: I would swear Pirates!'s engine was gamebryo, but i didn't know for sure. Only know, that i searched the web about gamebryo based games could i have the confirmation that Pirates! runs on gamebryo... Also, there are a lot of different games that use gamebryo:
Oblivion, Pirates!, Civilization 4, Gothic 3, Empire Earth 2 or Zoo Tycoon. Even Playboy the mansion uses it :P It's not an awesome game engine, but at least it's versatile...

Prey was also a cursed project. So much fuss about it, and now nobody talks about it. Graphics and gameplay don't normaly (normaly) make a good and talked-about-for-very-long game... Storyline, that's a different thing

I actually didn't think Oblivion was that bad. There were some (quite a few) things that I think should have or could have been done better, but overall it was, for the most part, fun.

I did find myself wishing it was more like morrowind though. It certainly could have done without all the "console" type menus and shit. The very same thing that ruined DX2 and Thief DS for me. Trying to put the same game on both consoles and PC.

It just doesn't work.

Whether or not Oblivion was fun is completely irrelevant. Oblivion's design has nothing, and I do mean nothing, in common with the design of any faithful Fallout game.

I absolutly agree with you on that.

By the way, are you guys aware of a game called "Jagged Alliance"? It was developed by I think "Sirtech", a Canadian company. It's isometric, turn-based, and I think it's what FO: Tactics should have been. There's even some good humor.

Anyway, I suggest checking it out if you aren't familiar with it. It's worth a play, and reminds me of fallout.
