Bethesda trademarks Nuka Cola

WorstUsernameEver

But best title ever!
Before you get excited, I'll note that I believe that Bethesda has done it entirely to protect themselves from sites like this making money off their property, but Joystiq is reporting that Bethesda, or more correctly, ZeniMax has filed three applications for a "Nuka Cola" trademark. The filings are very recent and dates back to last week, and cover, respectively:

- "Entertainment services, namely, providing on-line interactive computer games; entertainment services, namely, providing information and entertainment relating to electronic computer games via the Internet"

- "Computer game software for use with computers and video game consoles; downloadable computer game software offered via the internet and wireless devices; computer game software for use with on-line interactive games"

- "Clothing, namely, shirts, t-shirts, sweatshirts, headwear, namely hats; footwear, namely shoes and sneakers; jackets, fleece pullovers, pants, sweatpants, jeans"

I suppose we'll see in the near future if Bethesda intends to do anything with them or is simply protecting their intellectual property.

P.S.: You can check the filings yourself by searching "Nuka Cola" at this link.

I wonder if this also means they're going to start selling Nuka-Cola in the store... hmmmm.

I wonder what will happen to Nuka Break Series whenever they will plan to shoot another season or whatever.

The worst that can happen is that they change the title (well, not literally, much worse could happen but), otherwise, they'd already gotten permission from Bethesda to work on the series as long as they didn't make any profit out of it. Also, I'm not sure if there's any plan to make another series in the first place, given they apparently struggled getting season 2 filmed and they can't get any money out of it.

If at all, then I'd say they should make a Nuka Break short movie or something. Season 2 was pretty awesome, but felt extremely short to me. So putting it all into one movie seems to be the better way imo. :>

I could see Bethesda teaming up with Coca Cola or some shit, doing some special deal with selling 'em Cokes with a different label on it. Both sides could make a load of money from it, I think.

Linking to uspto searches doesn't work (something the Joystiq writer also didn't notice) and I didn't find a way to give a permanent link, which is why I just linked to the search engine. Clunky and inelegant, but better than nothing.

I know I get a ton of hate here for this because I am not bashing Bethesda but I think it's important to explain why:

Nuka Cola as a product is sold by http://e-shop.nuka-cola.eu/ I don't know if they have a agreement with Bethesda. But if it happens with their blessing the Trademark is still needed. If not then even more.

Also if Bethesda wants to make other merchandise articles with Nuka Cola logo then a Trademark is needed too.

About Nuka Break: Zak Finrock and his crew are in a very good standing with Bethesda and Obsidian. They did the right thing and asked in advance the two companys if they can make their production and Nuka Break is made with their agreement. So no worry about them needed.

They aren't the evil empire as some think.
