Bethesda went from daggerfall to fallout battle royale.

As Norzan said, they've changed. People come in and out of these companies. Account that with market trends, shareholder expectations, new managers, artists, writers, designers, etc.

Do you think them selling another game like Morrowind would please their shareholders? Sure, it'd profit but not enough. Those investors would rather have them try to make a game like Fallout 76 and perform under expectation than a game like Morrowind and it sell to expectation. They had to try to do something to get that recurrent user spending going on.

They want to see financial growth as much as they possibly can and appealing to more and more of the masses is the best way to do that. Especially when those people will drop 60+ on a game and then some more later on for in-game items whereas the smaller niche market won't.

I genuinely don't care anymore.

They need to leave fallout alone before they destroy the brand even in the eyes of Bethesda fans.

Hopefully they'll focus more on the elder scrolls and starfield in the years to come.
