That and that it's too complicated and subject to malfunction on the battlefield. One would think the ideal weapon would be light, easy to repair and rugged.

thats why FN was contracted for the FN SCAR project: making a reliable, low maintenance, enduring gun, thats enabled for battle pickup & such for behind the lines ops.

well, thats true for almost all modern assaultrifles... communist or otherwise. to gravely wound a soldier takes 2 or more guys out of the fight, to kill a soldier only takes out 1..

However, I would think that the average guy in the field who is under fire and spending many days and nights in the rain the mud would want a weapon that's dependable. Isn't that why Glocks are so popular as handguns- dependability?

suppose so. sturdy, easy to maintain & light.
too light (and too ugly) for my tastes.
