Bigtown Quest (after)

First time out of the vault
After I free Red, she told me about the mutants going to attack again soon, and I said I'll help her.

but then since I dont see the quest updates, I just leave the place.

then after few days I return there again and see the place empty, where are they ? and I dont found them in Germantown HQ also.

so this means they're dead/gone ???
 
There's a bit of delay after she tells you about it. She'll go outside. When she does, kill some time laying down mines or something. I think it takes about an in-game hour, but I wasn't playing with the default timescale.
 
There are 4 super mutants who attack the town shortly after Red gets back and mentions the attack. You usually have time to train the settlers in firearms or repair some robots.

If you left early I guess they've been captured/slaughtered.

yeah, I know, I checked the quest FAQ and saw it, thats why I returned, but they're gone already.. I saw and killed 4 mutants, but the inhabitants are gone.. ==

They are dead. I did the same thing the first time, only I actually came back in time to see their corpses. I think the game refreshes the dead bodies after a time, and they vanish. The second time I did it, I actually was there to save (most of) the town, though stupid Shorty who I wasted time saving died, as well as Pappy. But that stupid goth chick survived. Pappy and Red are the only two useful ones in the damn town, go figure.
 
Can you tell an ally NPC to wait at bigtown, will the ally protect them?

Because [spoiler:3ac16b7b6b]Faulks [/spoiler:3ac16b7b6b] can easily take out 4 mutants.
 
If you're nice to Bittercup then she will give you random goodies once a day. Similar to how the Megaton residents treat you if you have high karma.

Her gifts are either better or they stack if you haven't visted her in a while. I'm not sure which because one time she gave me like 4 stimpacks.

Just be excessively nice to her on your first visit, complementing her on her makeup, etc.. Then after that all you have to do is say hi, then bye after you get the item/s.
 
When I did it after I talked to Red I heard gunfire and ran to the front bridge and saw 4 mutants coming, bigtown npcs were useless and I took out the 4 mutants myself using the combat shotgun, was thinking it would be more difficult.
