but that sucks... :|

not that it'll bother me, since i'm buying the game legitimately and have an inet conn, but well, it is a hassle you really shouldn't have to face.

Errrr..... So if/when they go tit's up, I won't be able to activate it again, without resorting to patches of dubious origin? Yay!

I despised it with HL2, but at least Valve had the Steam MP network to justify it (somewhat), but just for activating a one off single player game? Retarded.

A friend of mine will be espescially gutted, he's staying in uni accom with no phone line :P

Buying their games only encourages them to commit further atrocities against gamers.

Blah, 2gb. I really should upgrade.. but the inside of my PC scares me. :(

That internet activation thing is stupid too. Seems we've finally passed the era of absurd CD protection programs only to step into the wonderful world of internet security.
The funniest thing is pirates still succeed at cracking these games. All they do is cause hassle for the people who actually pay money.

It's funny how the victim mentality of developers allow them to treat clients like shit and be proud of it.

Meh i am well in the recommended specs :) yay.
Will buy it - dont appreciate the internet protection - do apreciate the artstyle and direction of the game .. will support it !

But, it takes an extra five minutes to crack, and that's what counts. ;) Anyway, I'm sorta thinking it's a bit BS with the internet activation, as well. It is true that it does cut down on pirating a bit, but they're stupid to do it on later releases of the game, if it's already cracked and there's nothing they can do about it.

At the very least, developers like Stardock and Valve provide excellent patch and game download support along with their compulsory registration, particularily Stardock. It gives a reason why beyond security. But for it to become a trend among those who do no such thing.. bah humbug!

How about simply telling the bastards what we think about their copy protection/cd-key/internet activation shit?

Hell, as long as it's a one-time activation, I couldn't care less. Now if I have to have a program continuously running to play the game (Steam), that pisses me off. Either way, I'm buying this mother. I need something of decent quality to play.

Developers will treat gamers like shit as long as gamers behave like game-addicted junkies that don't have a willpower to engage into economic warfare with their oppressors.

I think the people who are going to obtain an illegal copy might even have an easier time to install the game provided the crackers manage to create a nice, clean installer that doesn't even require doing any difficult activation procedures.

:revolution: Right. Boycott of the Starforce protected games and the worldwide campaign against it DID something in our favour. The game companies think twice before implementing it in their games now.

Only time will tell what's gonna happen to this "internet validation procedure." However, I don't like the idea of sending some info from my computer to a game company, or to anyone out there. Firewalled.

Of course, Starforce was run by total asses; they would post links to torrents of games who's developers refused to deal with them.

It's funny how the victim mentality of developers allow them to think they should be able to ask money for a work product instead of handing it out for free to lazy-ass trash with entitlement issues who'd sooner revile them than toss them a dime for their effort.

O rly.

it'll be cracked within a few hours, so when they go tits up (which i dont see happening any time soon since Levine doesn't have manboobs), you'll be able to play anyway.

developers usually have little to do with the copy prot. it is the distributor that usually decides what to use.
