Fallout 2 mod BIS Mapper change to map crashes the game

overdog

First time out of the vault
So I've got the BIS mapper, set up the file paths and everything, and decided to test the waters and make a small change to the beginning map, artemple.map
I placed a knife on the map somewhere where your character would be able to retrieve/use it. I saved the map, and started up my game. I made a new character and the knife was there! The problems began when I picked up the knife. I placed it into my active slot and closed my inventory. My character model had vanished, and my game crashed with an error a few seconds after. Attached is the error message.
Here is how my Fallout 2 install is set up:
I have a CD copy of FO2 USA 1.02 humongous install, and I extracted the master.dat folder to the base Fallout2 folder: not the data folder that was made inside of it.
I set the mapper config file as so
critter_dat=C:\Users\matlo\Desktop\fallout2mod\Fallout2\critter.dat
critter_patches=C:\Users\matlo\Desktop\fallout2mod\Fallout2\data
master_dat=C:\Users\matlo\Desktop\fallout2mod\Fallout2\master.dat
master_patches=C:\Users\matlo\Desktop\fallout2mod\Fallout2\data
The fallout2mod folder and subsequent files are just a copy of my base install so if I mess up I don't have to install it all over again and can just copy/paste.
Anybody else have the same issue?

By default, player's tribal appearance doesn't have the anim set for wielding a knife, so the game couldn't display your character properly and crashed.
You should install the extra animations for tribal appearance from here: https://github.com/rotators/fallout-animations
Also the crash means you don't have newer sfall, as it will prevent you from equipping weapons which you don't have corresponding anim sets.
