Hi bro!

First of all, I have received your PMs, everything seems fine. No need to raise the alarm :)

Second, that dude looks a bit too dark to me..? Are you sure you're using the proper technique for re-colouring? Also, a few of the sprites to the right seem to have variations in armor/trousers colours, they don't look very consistent/uniform/coherent.

I'll check out the FTP server and let you know about the status.

heu...no the same technique.
PEncil with dark color in normal at 50% of opacity.
Test a virge one
HMLTHRAA for exemple and compare it.
I think it can come from the lightning green of the armor.
A visual effect.
I only paint the arms and the heads.
No touch the armor.
I'll check with the original one.
I haven't change the method.

OK, I painted just one direction of the leather armor for comparison, the order is:

my vault-suit dude, my leather armor dude, your leather armor dude.

Yours looks a bit darker.

strange...
for the other question, the changing color armor
is on the original one:

Surely a render made a friday by the guy of blackisle 11 years ago ;)
hurry to leave in week end :)

I'll remake a test of painting after the lunch.

edit: HEu...what a strange double post ???

When you use the 50% brush, be sure to click JUST ONCE on the area you want to cover. If you click more than once, you'll get colour inconsistencies. It is hard sometimes to place the brush properly in order to cover an area with just one click, but that's the only problem you're about to encounter during the work, simply because everything else is pretty simple.

Just try to cover the skin with 1-click brushes and to minimize the total number of the clicks.

well..
It's what I done...
I cover the right arm for example, with only one push, leaving my finger press on the button.
So even if I go again on a colored part, there is no change because I don't stop pushing on the left button...
Here is my version with 50% opacity and pencil tool:

and the same settings with brush tool...

there s not a lot of change...

strange no?
A screen of my setting in PHOTO...SHOP ( :) )

Sorry to intrude, but Brother Soifran is right, the inconsistencies (lower quality) in armor color in some of the leather armor animations, as well as a difference in the lightness (which i'm guessing, causes your black dude to look darker in some directions) between some directions in the same Frm, is an error of the originals, i came upon this when working on the leather armor for the long hair dude, and at first i thought frame animator had messed up the bmp's, as i had never noticed that in-game, but nope..., they are like that. :(

Yours looks a bit darker.
when I put my face on the monitor, I 'm saying me that our arms are "identic".
the diferrence appear in the face...
I brush the whole face and a part of the neck.
But I'm not sure you color all the face.
Can you try just one frame painting like me, the whole face and a part of the neck without unclicking the left button?
Just to see.
Because If not, I don't understand what can happen...
Thanks Lisac.

OK, the next experiment: first 3 on the left are mine, the last one (all the way to the right) is from bro. I don't know about you, but I see differences in colours. Those are just tiny nuances, but quite visible to me.

Maybe the brush algorithms are different in different PS versions?
Also, you seem to skip the hair, bro. You should paint it too :)

Ok may be, but where do you check that?
And what is your values?

Leather armor does turn purplish in the 'getting hit' animations, which has always bugged me. I don't know why the Interplay artists made it that way.

To me it looks like brother_soifran should not use 50% but a bit less. Maybe playing around with 45% or 40%.

Maybe the colour management? These are mine options:

Funny, never noticed this. Someone probably screwed something along the way. What's even more interesting - it's almost impossible to notice it i the game. Can this be seen on other leather armor animations (Cassidy) too?

Try with 40% or 45% brush, then compare with my examples (there are 3 of them in this thread). If it looks similar, go on.

And don't forget to include the whole head, with hair.

I think there's no difference, but since I'm using the brush, maybe you should use it too.

If you "can't" use the brush, that means your image is in "Indexed mode" (8-bit, 256 colours). You should convert it to RGB mode (24-bit, 16.7 millions of colours), this is done via "Image > Mode > ..." menu and can be automatized with actions/sets.

You should check out if your images are in Indexed or RGB mode anyway, because I work in RGB mode and I would suggest you do the same. Most probably the images are already in RGB mode, because FRM Animator exports them from FRM files that way, but it doesn't hurt to check it out.

ok, here is the 40% opacity one with the pencil

and the 45% of opacity with pencil too

on the left the 40% on the center the 45% ...on the right the 50%
must have good eyes...
