Bloody Mess?

Just noticed that I seemingly cannot get Strong Back perks with Small Frame trait... which sets me back a bit with atm being limited to 250 pounds with PA on (8 Str with regular PA, possibly 9 with the Enclave PA). Would be neat to see which perks gets unavailable for what traits.

One thing I didn't like about Fallout, was the impossible loads a character could carry - 250Ibs seems ridiculous IMO...even 50Ibs seems like a lot to carry in a desert location, over long distances, but I have to remind myself, that Fallout is just a game, and not a religion, but it comes close.

In Fallout 2, Bloody Mess is a joke trait you choose to limit yourself.

Because it's too easy to smash/burn targets to ash, their loots fall down to the floor in a mess and take forever to pick instead of a nice Take All from each corpse. The sliding thing? It's nothing compare to the boring clickfest to get the loot.

Also one of reason early Energy Gun sucks, because the earliest weapon is flamer and it's all too easy to turn enemies to ashes. Heavy as hell to carry and inconvience to reap the rewards?

For me it's just nostalgic shtick that they probably feel they just gotta throw in there since it's been in the game from day 1. At least you get some kind of bonus in the new ones though.

Also for me the ridiculous over the top gore just adds to the campiness, fun, and setting of the game. I don't want the games to be too serious.. seems like everyone these days wants to make more of a semi-interactive movie these days instead of an actual game. For all of Bethesda's fuckups I'm glad they at least incorporated that into the engine. It does get tedious with the VATS slow-mos though.

Interesting. Before I beat the game I could carry about 250 pounds worth of stuff. When I beat the game, it went down to 235... Have absolutely no idea what happened to cause that. :o

Either way, that was a run-through with Small Frame trait. Will decide upon another soon enough.

I thought it would be cool to use Bloody Mess the first time I played Fallout 3, but I very quickly got annoyed with it. I never used it in the first two games that I can recall.

I have actually never chose it. I have always felt it as a waste of a perk. The 5% damage was a load of crap. Like he said before, with 1000 damage, it only adds an extra 50 damage. You would need a weapon that deals thousands of damage for this to make a serious impact.

Why do so many (casuals) love this perk?
Because they think +5% damage (i.e. changing 20 damage into 21) is a big deal in a game where you can out-attack your enemies 10 times to 1 and often end up one-shotting enemies anyway. Also, at least in FO3, there are so few worthwhile perks, why not take it?

As a trait, I don't think even "casuals" take it... it's really more just for the lulz than anything.

I almost always took bloody mess in Fallout 1. I didn't even realize I was always seeing the alternative ending with the Overseer until after 8 or so playthroughs I finally played without it. The look on my face when the Overseer just walked away
