Bourgeoisie Needs You!

Well, maybe not exactly your person, but they could sure use your cash or support (I suppose old toys would pass too ;) ) All's in this groundbreaking newspost by Intoxicate:
Many projects, including commercial ones, have at times to make difficult decisions. Therefore, after a grand brainstorm (and market analysis) we've decided to shift to another engine.
Our choice - 'Torque Engine' - is a complete engine (meaning a tremendous boon to the project schedule), has got a functioning community, tech support and many other virtues, which make it a perfect choice. It offers, among other things:
-the possibility to play Bourgeoisie on Linux and Mac
- ready made Scripting System
- dynamic location loading
- built-in editors - allowing anoyone to build a location (useful with Mods)
- vehicle movement physics (so you'll be able to move around a location in a vehicle)
- minimum requirements for this engine are PII 400MHZ, 256RAM, RIVATNT2 32RAM, (so Bourgeoisie would run even on a sub-par machine)
- a ready made graphics engine, allowing to generate marvellous scenes.

Thanks to Torque we'll get many great possibilities ZeD (old Engine) couldn't provide.
Bourgeoisie will be much better profiled, if we are to take advantage of this engine.

But the most important blessing is that we'll spare much time developing Bourgeoisie owing to "Torque" (at least half a year).
Unfortunately, it's got a severe drawback - it's a commercial engine and to use it, one must pay a license fee of 100$.

THIS IS WHERE WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Bourgeoisie is a fan project and as such, it's got no budget. That's why we crave your support. Purchasing the license is neccessary to use the source code and the engine documentation. In other words: Without the license we're in a cul-de-sac.

If you're willing to help Bourgeoisie make it to the market shelves, here's your chance to do it! How? Easy. By making a donation to the following bank account:

18 1050 1793 1000 0022 8331 9636
Account owner: Piotr Gawiński

We appreciate every sum of money, because it'll help us buy the license and create Bourgeoisie. EVERYONE wto make a donation will naturally get an honorable mention in the CREDITS of Bourgeoisie.

Thank you all in advance
Andrzej "Kolos" Koloska
Project Chief
So, if you want to help make Bourgeoisie and want to find yourselves in the credits and have some extra money on your hands - don't hesitate, transfer as much as you can to Kolos' private Swiss account ;)

And here are some screens from the Torque:

HOLY CRAP!!! You guys did that to torque? Doesn't look much like it's Tribes heritage would suggest. I'm impressed and I'll definitely help out with a bit of cash when my next paycheck comes in.

Keep up the good work guys.

No this is work of other people. But we gonna buy Packages from that people, and graphics engine will be "updated" ;) - so will looks like this one.

And ofcourse - we will make ISO game not free look. This screens show only potential of Torque - not our Game.
you must wait for our game screenshots from this engine i promise you that we will make it realy great.

In couple of time i will show some screens form pre-techdemo on our last home made engine (i mean ZeD), so you will be able to compare our engine and Torque.

We are early to end technical concept of design - so in couple of time (when all design will be ready) we will search for sponsoring and distribution.

But first - we must buy license for Torque and those Pack's.

Give us time - we will make game that you will never forget ;)

Cheers!

Let me get this straight: You need 100 USD to license the engine? Am I reading that right? Becuase that doesn't seem like an awful lot to me, although my knowledge of licensing things is next to nil, true.

And you can't come up with 100 USD? hmm, I must rethink my perceptions of the value of money in Eastern Europe.

Tell you what, I'll bite and contribute a decent amount to your licensing fee IF you allow me to contribute it via a paypal account or similar online system; I am hesitant for numerous reasons to put money into a personal bank account.

Yes. We have no money, because in this month we buy couple of licenses. That worth very much cash. In Poland 100$ is something about 1000$ in US.
Torque License isnt only one license that we must buy - but rest of licenses we will/we buy by our Team.

We must wait for Master_Of_Flamaster because i cant say that in english :P

100.00 USD United States Dollars = 335.333 PLN Poland Zlotych
1 USD = 3.35333 PLN
1 PLN = 0.298211 USD

There you go intoxicate. I hope this clears some things up. I will also only donate if I can do so through a paypal account.

Here is the link for a useful currency conversion site.

XE.com - Universal Currency Converter

edit: I posted while you were posting so you may not see this for a while. thats what I get for checking sources in the middle of a post!

Thank for you support guys!

you get me wrong...
i mean...
in this month we spend a lot of money for other licensjes. We dont have more money... we spend all of our money.
Maybe someone else form Poland can say something about JOB in our Country - so you will understand everything.
// bylbym wdzieczny jak ktos by to przetlumaczyl: :P
chodzi mi o to ze zarobienie u nas 100 $ jest rowne z zarobieniem 1000$ w US.

We must quickly buy that licens for Torque - because officialy we cant make on it.
If we have the cash - i will inform about that in our site.

I will also only donate if I can do so through a paypal account.
We will think about that tommorow...

I think I understand what you are trying to say intoxicate. Money is hard to come by in Poland, or jobs dont pay as well? I understand your dilemma in any circumstance...as soon as a more secure way of transfer is set up, you'll get some unofficial funding so to speak. Good luck guys, I wish to see this project thrive.

Ditto, that engine looks pretty sweet, and a bargain price, 150 for the "indie" license, and then if you get the "add on" pack for another 90.00, that's a good start.

You all must understand that in Poland making money, have money (lets say 100$ = 335PLN) is not as easy as in USA, and 100$ for us is like about 1000$ for people who are living and working in USA

to say it simply: we are poor people

and we need (I mean Borgeoisie needs) help

We have beed making research about Torque for month of time, and we got everything info we needed. Decision have been made.
And if we compare our engine with Torque Engine + "add dons", Torque wins 10:0.
I know we can learn that engine - because i know my people and me.
And with Torque we are one year forward.

I must say that I've been quite amazed that a numerous team can't pool a measly hundred bucks together to buy the Torque.

That is, until intoxicate told us that it's far from the last expense they have.

I wish I could help guys, but what can I say... I'm jobless :(

You non European guys have to understand that the regular pay of a Polish man isn't that huge, here in Norway they usually come up during the summer and work here. 2-3 months pay in Norway is like 1-1.5 years of pay in Poland.

Yeah, if they're a diver-welder on an oil rig in the North Sea :D

You've got to take into account that not many Poles would care so little for their money to buy out a .com domain and put an "Under Construction" label. Which is more than I can say for Americans :D

I'd be glad to transfer some money to you guys, but, is there any way to 'assure' that something useful will be done with the money ? Not buy the engine, and abandon the project 3 months later ..

This is going to be kind of diffcult, because PayPal doesn't work in Poland as far as i know. But maybe there are some other ways of transferring money online that does work in here (e-gold maybe?)

Also, 100$ is not that much, when I first read that news post I thought it was 100k$:)

If you could post your IBANN numbers and that kind of stuff it'd be easier to make a European money transfer.

Just curious, what other licenses did you have to buy?
