Boxing

I know about that, Finesse - Per says that in his guide. What I want to do, is see if I can get the boost for $25 instead of $500, buy losing to the first guy instead of the last guy. I want to know if the royalties drop is only for the fight you're redoing, or for that one, plus the following ones as well.

I'm pretty sure the roylaty drop is permanent ($25 is 25% of $500?) but you should wait until the fight with the Masticator to lose, anyways. The replacement fighter won't, I don't know, BITE YOUR EAR OFF.

$25 is 25% of $100. You get $50 for winning the first match ($75 if your Speech & Barter are high enough). That's why I'm trying to find out whether the royalties drop is permanent, or only for the retried match. I know $500 is a drop in the bucket at this point in the game, but I'd also like to try and fight the Masticator, to see whether or not I can beat him.

Okay, it looks like that, from the point in which you lose a match, your royalties drop to 25%, and they stay there for the rest of the fights. Guess I'll just go give the Masticator a pop in the...well, just kick him, anyway. Thanks much for all the above info. :)

It's quite fun to kill him with that kick to the eyes :)

Sorry for gravedigging, but I wanted to know which fight is it best to lose (if you're going for five resistance gains) from the standpoint of both xp and cash, assuming you can kill the opponent for xp in the fight you're disqualified in?

Maybe someone with time on their hands could elaborate.

I have a doubt...
If i do the boxing thing later in the game with the stats up...wont i kill the fighters in 1 punch? besides i have bloody mess trait :\

You can kill the fighters in New Reno with impunity, you won't be disqualified, if you're wearing the gloves.

I believe you get to keep the Prizefighter title even if you kill someone (q: do you keep it if you've been disqualified or beaten, but done a rematch?)

However, killing fighters in San Francisco may lead to erratic game behaviour, so be more careful there.

humm got to lower my stats in there then :O
I'm Testing Horrigan armor now. Awesome! Sad thing he can't run =\ and can only use ripper or unnarmed ='(

Just don't kick them in the eyes or heads... Break their legs and finish them off.

Modding talk goes two fora below.

I just created a small guns dude yesterday and I tried to box in reno at level 10. With a 60 somthin % unarmed skill, enough damage resistance for them not to damage me (even with criticals), and some plated boxing gloves, I started.

1st fight

With a 46% chance to hit, I missed two times. The third time I hit him critically for 10 damage and I get the message (boxer was critically hit for 10 damage, unfortunatly his spine is now visible), and he dies WTF?

2nd fight

Boxer runs up to me, I pass turn and now have 20 AC. Boxer misses once, second miss is a critical failure, and he loses his next turn. Round ends and again im victorious...

3rd fight

Boxer runs to the middle, I meet him there and attack once, miss, then pass. For 3 turns he attacks me for 0 damage each time and I miss. Finally he gets a critical failure and I win.

4th fight (masticator)

At this point I say to myself "wow, how the hell did I get this far? oh well, all good things come to an end". Masticator gets a turn before me (he must have really high sequence), and runs 3/4 of the way to me. I run to him and punch him once, and it says I bit off his ear... On the second hit I critical hit for 8 damage and the message (boxer was critically hit for 8 damage, unfortunatly his spine is now visible). WTFx2!?

Ok, so I just won prizefighter with a 60 somthin % unarmed skill without taking one hit of damage...

Now that's really something. The thing I find strangest is that you tore of his ear with unarmed at only 60%. Critical hits have a chance of causing instant death, so you really lucked out there.

You can't take his ear unless he takes yours first, so that may not be so good.

I have done that, though that was with killap's patch (which is not supposed to affect that in any way). What strikes me odd is that according to your guide you need to have way higher unarmed skill to do that than Phil here does.

*edit* Oh, and I had fast shot so I couldent use aimed shots either. :D

Which can make boxing impossibly boring...

Trust me, I've tried to do the fighting HtH stuff in Reno and San Fran, at high levels, and it just takes forever not having the ability to aim your shots.

If you look at the code you have to score a critical Unarmed roll modified negatively by the Masticator's Unarmed, which is very high. It's possible the engine allows for a critical even at a very low chance of success, though (maybe it's never less than 5%, like it's never more than 95%).

There's also a flag check to see if the Masticator took your ear, I'll have to check again to see if it doesn't always apply, but I thought so.

Finally, I think you need Better Criticals to score lethal criticals - maybe not against all critter types and body parts, since the critical tables are different.

Heres my char's stats now, and yes, I had better criticals during the fight.
