Breathed some life into some Van Buren assets

First time out of the vault
Hey everyone, I'm a huge fallout fan (more the lurker type) and maybe about 6 months ago I finally started digging through the Van Buren tech demo and design docs (I know, I'm a little late). I had my fair share of fun with converting the 3D models and playing with their animations- but a couple weeks ago I actually got a use for the models.
I'm currently a student, and in my latest class (Computer Graphics Programming) our final course project was pretty much to make a game. I decided that the Van Buren assets would be good to use since I already had them lying around- and they are already fully animated (they aren't really free, but I'm a student and we weren't expected to necessarily make the assets ourselves- gimme a break).

I'm not trying to sell or get you interested in the game I made or anything- but I thought some of you might be interested in seeing some of the models from Van Buren in action (mainly the Deathclaw since you can play with the character all you want in the tech demo, 'specially with the 'testanim' console command). So here's a video of my project (others asked me to upload a video so I figured I would drop a link around here).

As you can see (and if you consider it, it makes sense) the animations weren't really fitting for the gameplay (like Fallout has no need for strafing animations, shooting while moving, etc.) but I personally was happy with how it came out. And I was excited to put some use to these models (even if it was only a couple animations outta the many that most of the models have). Also, if you go to the actual youtube page, the video description contains a lot of information about the game if you are interested.

And to mods- if this is in the wrong forum, please move it. I wasn't really sure where it belonged, but I thought this forum would be the most fitting.

Someone should probably move this to the modding section.

It's sorta interesting to see what you did with the Van Buren models, but as a game this looks extremely boring. Dunno.

I'm interested that you think that. Most people that have played it have liked it- and my instructor is encouraging me to keep developing it into something releasable. Music based games like this are pretty popular at the moment.

But, I admit that it is lacking in content (hence why it needs to be further developed), most of this was done in about a week- and a couple things were cut due to time and the animations for the player (such as multiple weapons, was going to use the 9mm Autoloader and the Machete, and have ammo). Was also planning to have a little bit of a back story and a little scene that plays when you start a song- again, I cut that due to time. Also though, I can see why people on a Fallout forum wouldn't get too excited over something like this. The gameplay itself has nothing to do/in common with Fallout.

Hence why it's probably better here on the fanart board, but I might be wrong on that.

I liked it, but a machete against deathclaws? I'd like to see it done.
