Call of Cthulhu news?

Definitely. The puzzles are quite difficult, and the game as a whole is extremely cinematic, often forcing you to think fast. Stealth moments can be frustrating though, especially with a checkpoint save system. And the bad guys are called the Order!

Ugh. This game is turning out to be really difficult, and the lack in frequency of the saving points doesn't make it any easier. Stealth isn't exactly broken, but near impossible, considering the FPS perspective (I much prefer 3rd person for this sort of thing). At least I have weapons now. I needed the walkthrough for the part I'm at, I'll complete it tomorrow. Oh, and don't expect to have more health than your enemies.

VERY scary and disturbing though, with tons of Lovecraft references. Play it in the dark.

UPDATE

It's getting really really difficult. I wish there were more save points, or at least that they had placed them better. A lot of trial-and-error, it's not the kind of adventure game where you get time to think.

And the insanity feature could have been handled a lot better. You seem to go insane for the most minor things. Now I could understand going insane because of monsters, but seeing dead bodies and being in a storm? For a detective, Jack Walters is a total pussy.

There are a couple of other things that bug me. In certain areas in the game, enemies will respawn if you leave that area and then go back. With the often needed backtracking, this can be very frustrating, and seem unrealistic (I get it with monsters, as there are a lot, but villagers? I must've killed the entire population of NYC).

And without spoiling too much, bolting doors to keep chasing enemies outside is a much used feature in the game. Due to the lack of resolution in the controls, however, the "open door" action and the "bolt door" action are very close to each other (the bolt is above the handle). This has caused untimely death a lot of times.

Still very exciting game, with smart puzzles.

Oh, and there's kind of a reference to Prisoner of Ice.

Not really. Kind of complicated. I didn't get much. Then again, I got kind of spoiled by an Internet forum, when I was asking for help with a certain... encounter.
