There is NO use for it in Fallout Tactic´s until now.

(Newton Mission just solved)

It is used only for the purpose of accessing certain science terminals later in the game. They are triggered to open doors or access information if your science skill is at a certain level. It can be used to trigger certain events or dialogues if programmed into a game.

Actually, there are two other uses for it in the game:

1) The higher your Science skill is, the more likely you are to score a critical hit on a Robot.

2) If you encounter a Remote Det. Trap you can use your Science skill on it to determine what frequency it is set to. This one is -- obviously -- only really useful in MP. Here's a [link:www.fortunecity.com/skyscraper/networking/1424/ssd0756.htm|link] to a screenshot that shows this in action.

Science skill in Fallout tactics ?

I asked a friend that played it long ago and said he thinks it can help with energy weapon trype damage, and little parts late into the game. Its my first time playing so try not to spoil storyline events. But I want to ask is it worth having ? . Is there anything that can be gained from having a high level science.

other thing is that I been playing with small weapons on my main char and just got one of my fav weapons the P90 just before. Now I am onto mutants. But I finding it rather useless on mutants , My 2 heavier weapon guys r pulling me thu with new M249 saws. From asking my friend he said that small weapons kinda gets useless from now on and using AP rounds wont do much either. I could maybe try raise my strength from 4 to 5 and get something like the M16 or so, but not sure if that be much better.

Other question I wanted to ask, I heard there is energy sniper rifles and energy chainguns, but r there any energy any assault rifles in the game ?. ima thinking of redesigning my character (hence starting again)

I think that science helped you to score criticals with energy weapons.
By the end of the game, you'll have enough skill points and science books to raise your science skill withour worrying about other skills. And if you're playing on Ironman then it'll be very easy.

so noting really else that I can benifit from science during the game ? like earning exp from it ? researching technology that can be useful to my character or other party members ?

There are some computers that require high science skill to access them if I recall correctly but I don't remember if that gives you xp or not.
You can't research any technologies though or anything like that.
