cannot edit ini/config file for HD patch in W7

so i'm getting the rainbow colors and am trying to adjust the settings in the HD patch for FO2 and W7 won't let me save. i keep getting an access denied message. this has not happened with any other platform i've ever used.

if you've not encountered this or don't know for sure, please don't make me jump through hoops for guesses i've most likely already attempted.

Hmm, I wonder if this because Mircosith sees the file as a .ini file and is like "OH NOEZ! DON'T EDIT THIS!" Sigh. And here I was hoping Win 7 was something I would eventually upgrade to.

Anyway, I assume you're logged into an account with administrative access? I'm not entirely sure what could be wrong, but here is a link that might prove useful. I'd say scrolling down to the "Changing Permission" section would probably be what you want. Unless of course you tried all this already...

i didn't go too far with that angle because the permissions looked fine at first glance. i'll take another look tonight.

other than this ONE minor thing, W7 is pretty tits.

Windows 7 is very touchy about changing files in 'Program Files' folder. You have at least 3 more options - the easiest one would be launching notepad with administrator privileges, then opening and editing the file in question. Other 2 include either installing the patch somewhere else or turning off UAC control, editing the file, then turning UAC on again (if you wish, of course, though I highly recommend it).
