2016 Part 2: Electric Boogaloo

Damn, the reaper is doing overtime again.

I do wonder, a lot of recognizable and respected actors have been passing on, but are sufficient new actors filling the void?
I sometimes have the idea that these days there are more actors who can barely act but look pretty and are hired on that detail.

It takes death to bring Dutch out of hiding. Figures. ;)

Am I the only one who is absolutely not concerned when famous old people die?
Don't get me wrong, I like most of the people who have passed on in 2016...but it was their time. Most of them were old and just died from old age. Sure, some accidents or illnesses here and there which took some people away too early, so it adds a spice of tragedy, but in most of the cases it's just old people dying because they're old. Doesn't mean that either of those deaths didn't sadden me - quite on contrary - but why make all the fuss?

I'm really sick of people acting as if 2016 was the year of the Reaper's due because a bunch of actors and musicians died. Many, many people die every day without even a tear shed, and a lot more painful and more meaningful shit happens on daily basis that goes without mention, but no, someone who was once culturally relevant died, let's all board the mourning hype train.

I understand you Atomkilla, and it is true that a lot of these people were pretty old or sick for a long time.
I am not trying to say that these people were more important than the regular people who die every day without anyone outside their friends and family knowing about it (or no one at all). More like that it is a bit weird that they are suddenly gone as well. (if anything it reminds me that death holds for no one and that even I need to confront that inevitable fact)

Regarding hype train, I think we are pretty sober about it here so far, you should see some of the dedicated threads on other sites/forums.

Masaya Nakamura the founder of Namco died. Never heard of him, but Namco is rad.

I think John Hurt's death was more out the blue. I really liked him as an actor in The Elephant Man and also as Doctor Who.

But his time had come, he wasn't in anything new as far as I'm aware of.
He did his part and now I think he can rest easy.

I didn't believe the Kilusbot when he broke the news. Kilus killed Paxton guys.
