Centaurs, Floaters and your favorite mix

Ok, we know that the Centaurs and The Floaters were creatures of the Master's playing with Fev and dipping creatures.

Perhaps the Centaur is a mix of Man, rat and dog. But what else might have been created? What kind of strange mix would you have made?

Y'know, this is an excellent point.

I've always wondered why you don't see many creatures that are/were water-based.

In fact, I don't think you see any at all, despite both Fallout 1 & 2 being right on the western coastline.

Wouldn't you think that the radiation affected marine life as well? Wouldn't some of them grow legs and start the whole "let's evolve and walk onto land" evolution again?

It'd be sweet to see a combination of a giant squid and a clam in my opinion.

I don't think really there would be that much radiation in the ocean, I don't think the countries dropped many nukes in the middle of the ocean, and I'm not an expert on radiation so I don't really know how much would be spread in the ocean, but the Enclave seemed radiation free, right?

Well think about it, the radiation isn't just like some bad smell that just stays in the air.

It seeps into everything, including water. It gets into the rain, which ends up in the lakes and rivers, which flow into the ocean, ect.

And I do believe that the Enclave was sealed, just like the Vaults were.

Well it wasn't just radiation that resulted in the mutations. It was radiation combined with the FEV virus exposure, which maybe was blown inland and trapped in the valley along with LA smog... :)

D'oh, I fogot about the whole FEV dipping thing.

But, as we can see from the Deathclaws and Radscorpions, and Geckos, FEV isn't a neccessary ingredient to make this sort of thing happen.

Besides, the trace amounts of FEV that were floating in the air would surely end up in the water supply as well.

I think deathclaws were genetically engineered creatures, not random mutations due to radiation.

Exactly right Slayn. People often forget that. But the Centaurs and Floaters were also engineered by the Master- fun with Dip.

Take a ghoul, a raider, and a bird. To make a supercool sexy as hell singer..... wait that's me. :?

Seriously there should have been some sort of bird monster, even just a deadly hawk or something.

Yes.

I personally think there was too much emphasis on land-based creatures. Hell, besides the rats and dogs, were there any other non-reptilian critters out there?

But how would those birds fly? Would they still have feathers, or would there be some kind of pulp fiction reason why they can levitate?

What about a pig rat, a king mole rat, a 3 headed brahman, a human, a ghoul, a supermutant and dum dum dee dum! A deathclaw. Now that would be on freaky.

Maybe some huge bat type things, with leather like wings. Also some that were fitted with fans, rotors, or jets. Of course just huge nasty looking feathered pigeons too.

There were tons of those flying overhead. It's just that they were completely silent and the camera angle was pointed down. :)

There was a fish in the game dude! Or a mamal as its called, the random encounter where you find that squished whale and the flowers.

What about the aliens? wtf are they? Dont say aliens!

And a bird monster? lol dude, starting to sound like baldurs gate here hehe.

And ill end my post with saying the deathclaws were engineered to get smarter, they werent created by the enclave just improved.

According to Chris Avellone and the FO Bible, Aliens (and Wanamingos) are mutated animals or another Enclave experiment to create a big nasty soldier like the smart deathclaws.

They were sterile, these eggs in Redding are the last generation of them and those who remained after the Chosen One wiped them off the Wanamingo Mine died some years later.
