I wouldn't know if this could eb done (not being a hacker and all) but here is an idea. Would it be possible to change your characters body, not just adding armor to him? For example: Maybe if you had some kind of artist at mod squad or soemthing to change your character into hmmmm.... Spawn.

Yeah...

It's 100% possible.

You just need to modify Chosen One's pics.

I recently posted on our modding forum a way of tinkering with FRMs using Fallout's color pallette and without losing color information from the original picture.

Hope it helps.

All you need...

Are the same scale models used for Fallout. I'm not sure if BiS would let you license the models as a student or not (with some engines it costs $250,000 to license professionally, and only $180 to license as a student).

Not necessarily

If you can create the model with a 3D program like 3D Studio you can render each needed side without drawing everything.

Just as much as the ones in Fallout.

If anyone of you guys ever complete this I'll download it right on the spot...

Right, picture's weight is measured by its color information and size, not by its complexity.

Exactly. Now, we just need some good 3D artists.

By it's size, and number of frames actually. FRMs are paletted, and all pixels are simply indexed to they're appropriate color.

I've got good source code on FRMs.

RE: Not necessarily

Hey, I'm no 3D artist, but I'm good with PhotoShop 5.0 - I could do re-colorings, or draw a whole new set of clothes.

Yes, I was the one doing the new cars... dunno why I stopped. Gonna start on them again. Want pics of how far I've come already?

I'll post them later.

RE: Ermm...

ok, so you're trying to say that the size of each critter frame of the player frames equals to 1 byte...

maan.. and this guy says i'm pointing to nowhere!

Where did we say this? Are you just grasping fag-ends again? (Note, this is an old saying when fag actually meant cigarette)

And you are!

stop attacking me you two!

look, I asked:

> But have anyone of you guys measured the size >of all the player frm's in Fallout2?

And what did MatuX reply?

>It's just one for each critter...

First, I was talking about player, not critters, second, what does 'one' mean? One byte or what? Dammit, MatuX messed everything up because of not reading postings carefully enough, and you're blaming me!!! The world has become a terrible place...

Okay, here's your answer.

> But have anyone of you guys measured the size >of all the player frm's in Fallout2?

There are exactly 2,380 different "human" FRM files totalling approximately 215 megs; however, this is also including frames for human characters the player cannot assume. So I guess there are about 2000 or so FRM files for the player alone at 180 megs.

RE: Okay, here's your answer.

those which names begin with 'h' (i.e. harobeXX.frm) are for player, and those which names begin with 'n' (i.e. napowrXX.frm) are for other human beings. This info you won't find in any of the existings tutorials, it's part of my critter.dat name system research. And I DON'T allow TMS to use it in their tutorials :)
