Chat noir? Fallout?

Cat paw = Chat noir, and Chat noir was the original, and then went over the atlantic and of course changed names so the american people could understand it! :P Even though Chat noir means black cat, and not Cat paw. :P Its a thing played in Paris.. For the info. :)

Come on, Chicken. That poster is available to any tourist visiting Paris, on just about any souvenirs stand... Was there in February last time. I remember seeing heaps of those in the stands near Notre-Dame, I even brought home one for my girl at that time.

Still, it has the good 'ole Secession style.

I believe they're posters for a cabaret or some other show. Or a shadow show of some sort? Somewhere in the late twenties, or based on that time's style.

As of historical significance... hmmm... you might try some research on Toulouse Lautrec's posters.

Yeah, they have more artistic than historical significance, though I guess that depends on how seriously you take art.

Gotta love the Cat's Paw! I dont care what it is...just the picture seems to evoke nastolgia both from Fallout and somehow old art.

Can an egghead give us more information on the meaning?

Sincerely,

Toulouse-Lautrec was a French artist the same time as the impressionists. He created an advertisement poster for his favorite nightclub (or they commissioned him, I can't remember), and it was such a hit that he started getting requests from other places to do posters in the same style. I'm not sure if he did the Chat Noir poster, but he originated the style in which it was done.

So in short - there is no real meaning, it's just late 19th/early 20th century France's style of advertising, and a "high art" equivalent of the ads we see every day.

Here's a small gallery of his posters: http://www.yaneff.com/html/artists/lautrec.html

Thanks Montez. You gotta wonder just what was the idea going through the minds of the people who decided to include it in Fallout.

Let me quote myself from not so long ago:

This has nothing to do with the "real" Cat's Paw.
