Seems a few people around here have been asking about new *real* mods in the works. Well, I might just have what you're all after. Here's the deal:
I've been working on an improved version of a mod I made awhile back known only as "LongMod" which swapped several of the guns in-game for some modern ones. Well, I thought the mod looked like bunk even though several people emailed me and thought otherwise, but the point is is that I was generally unsatisfied. The solution? Re-make the mod from scratch, replace ALL (well, ALOT) of the games weapons (melee included), and even change some game dynamics.
So far here's what I have:
-- Gun's are now more expensive and the amount of ammo availible has been more than halved.
-- Weapons and equipment are now almost twice as heavy to make things more "realistic". Now you can't carry five guns and 2000 rounds of ammo for each. Hopefully this will make the game more of a challenge and more interesting. I tried to make things pausible although non-combat items still weigh almost nothing.
-- EVERY Small Gun has been replaced with modern weaponry, although I tried to keep the selection as plausible as possible. I know there's a large group of people out there that believe that no gun in Fallout should be "real", but humor me here. A few weapons that replace the "rarer" guns (Mauser, Needler, Handcannon, etc) were added for coolness. More common guns were replaced with common weapons that I think would be found in fair abundance in the hands of pre-Fall Californian citizens and military.
-- MOST Big Guns have been replaced. The only two I didn't touch were the two 5mm miniguns (although the ammo is now 5.56mm NATO).
-- EVERY ballistic ammunition in the game has been replaced or modified; mainly for price, weigh, and availibilty.
-- Energy weapons only edited for weigh and availibility.
-- Many melee weapons replaced, although these were mainly the rarer ones (aka the Wakasashi is now a full blown Katana).
I'll have more info later tonight as I have to jet off for a few hours. Expect screenshots tomorrow and a finished version by the end of the weekend.
One more thing, I need to host this mod somewhere. Who at NMA should I contact to get this thing on the Interweb?
