Chems and Chem interactions...

Wouldn't it be more effective and immersive to program side effects such as hindering speech skill rather than just animating random body twitches?

Well, of course the side effects would hinder and affect your character's physical/mental attributes/stats, decreasing/increasing their functions. But a visual array of animations that give you an idea of how it's affecting him/her is a nice idea. The initial performance enhancing elements would give visual animations that describe what the stat changes tell. I mean if your character is high on meth don't you think his stature, posture, and overall demeanor should be affected in an animated way? Aside from the obvious stats increase (with performance enhancement) and stat decrease(according to the withdrawl symptoms).

Fallout_expert, tone it down. No need to talk down to people on this board, especially not moderators and old members.

OFF TOPIC: I'm sorry Odin I edited the post. ON TOPIC: I want to see all the major chemical stimulants return, but I want them to have more advanced/complex options and effects. I personally don't think "Jet" should return since it was made by Myron and after you shut down the operation it shouldn't be distributed any more. I would like all the major chems (except Jet) to return with a few alterations, it would be great (in my opinion) if you had the option to synthesize one chem's form into another for a different administration method. I understand certain chems should only be injected (Pyscho) but others should also be injected for more advanced initial effects. I would like the visual disign of Mentats to change, instead of it's current form I'd prefer if it's graphic was more like Radx a simple smooth clean pill composition, like a geltab. Administration methods in my opinion should only be inject or injest, anything else would seem unfuturistic, maybe snorting would be okay. I would really appreciate more complex side effects, addiction animations, and some visual recognition of euphoria. Maybe the developers could find a way of giving the character chem side effects that you couldn't just easily skip via long distance transportation. Having more detailed animations for use, withdrawal, addiction, and attribute enhancement would be awesome. But of course I'd like to have more chems, Pyscho, Buffout, Mentats, Radx, Radaway, and maybe something similar to Jet but different, as well a chem that has both physical energy boost, adrenalin enhancer, anesthetic compounds to reduce pain, etc. Bring some 20th century drugs to the post nuclear world i.e. cocaine, crystal meth, etc. Of course animations wouldn't be the only thing proper stat increases/decreases and alterations would really be the most powerful element of the chems.

Summary of Fallout_Expert's previous post:

Hey!!!

Lets keep the drugs, cept jet, but make the affects more severe

I would like to see more animations showing how drugs affect you

Oh, and maybe they could throw in cocain and meth, for effect?

My response:

Dude, keep it short, we arent stupid, you dont have to explain so much... we get the idea...

Anyway, I think it would be cool if the affects of drugs were more severe.

But i dont like the idea of meth and cocain, becuase that is just wasting the developers time and i'd rather seem them working on better things.

EDIT: Oh yea, try using the enter key, learn what a "paragraph" is here

Ok I know you guys aren't stupid, I'm sorry. It's just I've found that if I don't explain all the ins, outs, positives, and negatives you forum members post things like "no that wouldn't work you moron, don't you know what Fallout is about" or "Oh come on that feature would never function well with all the bugs it would cause". I'm just giving an example, but yeah I agree only futuristic chems should be in Fallout 3.

well, that all makes sense...

but seriously, use paragraphs if your going to go on ranting for a long time, makes it much easier to read.

Well... It will be my first entry to this forum so forgive me if my style is not suitable.

I remember that in FO1 there was a prostitute in Junktown staying in the hotel (don't remember the name exactly but I think it was something like Cynthia or sth. whatever. the hotel was north of Killian's store). Anyway when you slept with her there was sth. like an addiction to sex occurs. There was no drawbacks or sth. but a msg was shown each time you pass near that hotel. It was sth. like "You feel like paying a visit to Cynthia".

Well now onto the topic. I think it would be better to use the same way as the thing I mentioned above. I think that would be more realistic.

When you became addicted to a chem it will not be shown in your char. sheet but you'll suffer the drawbacks and a msg like "You feel like using a Psycho" appears.

Well. That is my opinion of course. Just wanted to know what would you think about it.
