I'm a little worried that the action scenes may fall victim to the horrors of the "cam so close you can't see anything".

Yeah, I hate it, it's just a cheap trick to save money. Then they still charge you shitloads of money to go see it.

And it looks positively horrible.

It would've been better if the cause had been left a mystery, like Y: The Last Man.

But it won't be. Brian K. Vaughan has stated that the cause will be revealed in time.

Of course it'll be revealed in time. The series needs closure, after all.

The thing is that not knowing what started the plague that kills off all the dudes leaves the story with an air of mystery. Especially as theories on the cause are discounted as hokey nonsense.
