Claymore Mines

 Just wondering if anyone knows if you can plant claymore mines?

They are counted as traps not mines, you can only plant them on chest, doors etc which blows.

:?

Is there any point what so ever in setting traps on lockers and so on?

I know i used to have a trap on my money stash locker but i doubt if anyone would steal from you.

I don't think i come across a mission where you have to use traps either....

Yeah, claymores are pretty useless in the game. So are the gas-traps. But I do use normal mines pretty often. You can plant them to kill patrolling guards. I always give those Maddock-books to the character in my squad that has got the highest sneak skill and I use that one to plant the mines. Time consuming, though, but lotsa fun (mutants blowing into pieces). It's also fun to see the survivors look for you.

Actually some of those mines work very well on robots later in the game. Never used the claymore, but there should be somewhere when you should be able to trap a door.

Hm. I was wondering if maybe you can use claymores to trap the alarms in the game...

Oh, like those raiders that set off the alarms when they see you and then you get stormed by the entire crew! That would actually be a class idea. You'd have to get close enough to trap the mines though without being cought.

I allways seemed to have a problem with alarms in the beasts lord mission where you help the ghouls. The huge building (Was it a prison or somthing?) had loads of alarms everywhere. Never could get in without setting off atleast one alarm....

another even zanier idea is to sneak up on someone with High sneak, traps and steal.

you can steal (put) armed satchels inside them.
its funny to see them gibbed without them knowing.

its usually best done on sleeping or knockout enemies though, but its as funny as hell.

That was my hobby in Fallout 2, new Reno.
Stole a loaded C4 onto Mr. Bishop, watch him goooooOOo!

Also, drugging Dogmeat was fun too, but I'm leaving the subject.

Satchels are useless in the game, since no Enemy ever uses a crate or such. Never tried the alarms, or planting it on the enemy.

But I found it far too time consuming to use mines on patrol guards.... nothing a good sniper can't take care of.

First CLAYMORES ARE MINES, NOT TRAPS

the games designers, once again, have been shown to be fools.

Claymores, in real life, would frag you AND yer kevlar vest.

2nd, do something to make ALL the enimes come after U, into a mine field of yer creation, nothing funner

Other than where they are used against you in the single player campaign, these items are more for the multiplayer game. I think the designers made them traps because unlike the other mines which are set off by pressure the claymore is detonated by a trip wire, not something FOT is really set up for, though I'm working on it.

Well, I'm playing a new game of Fallout Tactics at the moment and I was thinking about this Claymore-thread, so I thought: 'Let's see if you can trap those alarms.' Well, you can! You can trap them with all those other traps too (explosive traps, gastraps, spikers). And I also know where you can use them effectively in the game. Remember when you have to rescue Mayor Hillary Eastwood (Quincy)? When you sneak into that building where she is being held, you can use those ladders to get onto the roof and then descend onto the porch. Then you have to avoid some raider commander to sound the alarm. Remember? Well, I trapped that alarm with an explosive trap, showed my mean ugly face at the guy, he runs to the alarm, tries to hit it, tries hitting it again and, finally, he explodes! Ha! Repeated the whole thing in the Town Hall, where Evita Eastwood is being held captive. Works great. You need to have a character with good sneak and traps skills to pull it off, though.
