Coaxing Interplay for the Fallout source code?

Hey everyone, I'm just curious - do you think that Interplay would sell the source code to the FO games? Last I heard they were in pretty deep financial shit, so I think if perhaps we started a global fundraiser (each member donates money for the purchase of the source code) we could possibly 'coax' Interplay into selling their source.

What do you think? Useless idea, or plausible strategy? :?

Oh fer Frith's sake, sometimes I really wonder what I put all the effort in for, if one day after publishing an article clarifying why the Fallout sourcecode CAN NOT be released, someone posts something like this...

Read:
* The Fallout sound infrastructure is part of a deal to use the Miles sound system of RAD Game Tools, Inc. (RAD). Interplay is allowed to use the Miles sound system but not allowed to redistribute any of the code. Sadly, the sound code is embedded into the sourcecode, which makes it impossible to legally release the Fallout RPGs sourcecode (without a separate deal with RAD).

Well, can they just cut out everything involving sound and then continue on from there? :P

That'd be rather hard, especially considering Interplay's haphazard way of managing assets. Ie. they have no clue where everything is.

Yes, except they don't know where all their tools have spread to *and* they don't have a competent staff do to so.

So no.
