Combat Control for FO2 on OS X

I don't care whether you already own it a hundred and twenty times, it is still warez talk, which is *still* banned. So cut it out.

Also, don't double post. Urgh.

Lastly, no, it may not be fixed by getting a legitimate copy. For as far as I know no one knows how to fix it, in fact.

Didn't know the warez talk was banned, my bad, it won't happen again. Guess I kinda raced in here without checking the rules.

Thank you. I guess I'll keep an eye open still....

I just have found a solution for this missing Combat Control screen issue.
You need correct "CONTROL.FRM" file. I took this file from PC version of FO2, from "MASTER.DAT" file (art/intrface/) and extracted with "Fallout2 DAT explorer" tool.
Copy this file to "~/Library/Application Support/Fallout2/DATA/art/intrface/" (create "art" and "intrface" folders).

In case you don't have PC version, I uploaded necessary file on RapidShare, here is the link: http://rapidshare.com/files/18422508/control.sit.html

Enjoy :)

I don't know how you figured this out, but THANK YOU.

oh.. my.. god.. you won't believe the lengths i've gone just to post this firggin' shit.. I had been searching the entire freakin' net just to find a solution regarding this for my mac.. and finding something for a mac is as unfortunate as finding osama's ass.. So i sign up for this shit and find out that it doesn't accept the major e-mail hosts.. I end up doing more research then any heroic vault dweller should.. AND.. sign up for another e-mail account going through numerous attempts to find an availability for a freakin' name! So now my ass is finally planted here, desperately waiting for an answer.. (HOPEFULLY!!) to save my sorry derriere.. don't kill me.. oh shit.. after all this friggin' ranting.. i failed to mention as to why i post this shit in the first place.. i need to know where to insert the "control.frm" in my mac version.. :aiee:

Ummm what? It's in the post above yours and the post three posts above yours. Or am I missing something?

Is this something that I should include in my Mac patch? If it is needed then it will be there fixing the problem. If it isn't needed then it will sit there doing nothing. No cons there. Has this problem always been present with those who play with Macs?

This is an awful late reply, but Ximenez you are amazing my friend. Kudos for finding that bug and figuring out how to fix it cross platform.

@Alexis Did you ever figure out how to fix the problems? Killap's patch do the trick? Just curious. If you still have questions repost and I'll try and walk you through it slow-like.

I'm still lost...

I'm having trouble with the fix. I don't have a "Fallout2" folder in my "Application Support" folder. I tried creating folders for that entire suggested destination, but it didn't work.
I realize my post is a couple years late....but please help! My poor Sulik is getting pounded!

Are you sure you're looking in the Library/Application Support folder in your home directory, not at the root level of the disk? You could also try searching for files named 'SAVE.DAT'.

Ok, so I made an account just to post this.

Cliff note Version: Macintosh HD/Users/(your user name)/Library/Application Support/Fallout2/DATA/art/intrface/ (create "art" and "intrface" folders)

Explanation:

As a mac user I also ran into the trouble of not being able to find my Fallout 2 folder within application support. Now heres the deal.

When you all looked for it, you went to the computers main library. This is not where you want to be. You want your own personal Library under your user name. Even though you may be your computers only user, if there WHERE more, then they would also have there own separate library folders.

So, here it is step by step. Open your hard drive, then open users. Now open the user folder for the user that installed the game (IE: not your little sisters user name). Then you can continue along as the original instructions say.

Library/Application Support/Fallout2/DATA/art/intrface/" (create "art" and "intrface" folders)

Good luck, hope that helps someone.

Ok so I've made an account just to say that I've followed all the instructions without difficulty and it is still not showing the combat control panel, also could someone direct me to this patch for mac that keeps being mentioned?

Thanks

to download killap's mac patch, scroll up on this thread till you see a post by "Killap". In his signature is a link to the patch. I'm sorry to hear that you were unable to get the control.sit file to work for you. Did you remember to unstuff it into CONTROL.FRM?

Would anyone be kind enough to share a working link to the "control.frm" file? This has been a multi-day struggle.

Thanks in advance,

Scott
