Command and Conquer The First Decade patch

I've recently dug out my copy of this C&C collection and it's been some time since I've played my last C&C game, but I'm planing on playing it soon enough.

Anyway, the game is not compatible with Windows 7, which is all right. Finding a fix should not be much of a problem.

However, IIRC, when I last installed the games (which was on XP though), I remember there being some changes made to the older titles (Tiberian Dawn, Red Alert) such as unit icons/pictures and such. I've also read it was quite a buggy experience.
So, as story goes, back then I installed some patch, which I believe to be a community patch, which fixed a lot, if not all of bugs, and returned the game(s) to their glory of yore.

However, the problem is, that right now, after 2 years or more, I've long lost my bookmark of the site where I've downloaded it, and have, of course, forgotten the patch's name.
All I can certainly recall is that the patch changed the icon of 'The First Decade' to resemble 'X', or a Roman 10, if you will.

Now, I need help with finding the exact patch;

I believe it to be this one, but I cannot be sure. Some of the features mentioned here don't really ring a bell, and it looks more like a "restoration project", rather than a simple fix (I see some missions added which I believe where cut out from the game etc.). List of additions can be seen here.

The point of this post is that I'm looking for a C&C nutjob who can point me in the right direction - I am simply looking for a big "fix" which I once had installed, rather than a patch that restores every little piece of content which has been cut back into the game.

Someone might say I should just go ahead, install it and try out, which is definitely an option, but I'm too lazy to do that (I'm not planning on playing the game right now, I'm just planning in advance huzzah).

Danke.

The first link you posted is the unofficial 1.03 patch which is the best patch for Command and Conquer the first decade.

Yeah, I've downloaded. I think that's the one, it's brilliant.

Required a bit of tinkering with compatibility and whatnot, but it works perfectly now.

Needless thread, in the end.

I wouldn't say that. I had a similar experience to your anecdotal recollection of trying to replay the classics on a new machine with a newer OS and finding myself unable to enjoy them until I tracked down a community compatibility fix. If ever a user such as myself were to try it again, with the gap between technology and compatibility widening ever further, it's always helpful to have some notes that say "this is what you need".

I suppose you're right, but I guess I could have also made that "note" somewhere else, rather than posting on a forum which isn't much related to the subject. But eh, serves me right for not doing it properly the first time, and I guess someone may find it useful. But I doubt it.
