Copy protection on CDs

SoNR

It Wandered In From the Wastes
I think that it is rather stupid putting copy protection on CDs, spending millions (is that only in norweigan kroner?) on it, when they could instead have lowered the prices on CDs, and people, at least I, would buy a lot more CDs...They would probably earn more on it, more people would buy the CDs and more income for the record companies.. Though they would earn less per CD more people would buy CDs =more total income...And they have had some compatability issues with the copy protected CDs...

CP is dumb. Easy, cheap way around it is just to have an extra 2x CD drive in your machine, it ignores it for me. I can copy anything I want!

the thing I dont like about copy protect is that I have CDs for my car and room. So, instead of buy 2 cds or transporting everything back and forth, I just make a copy to keep in my car. I wish there was a way to actually tell companies I have good reason for doing certain things.

Allowing you to copy that CD would defeat the purpose of CP. Currently, you pay $30... without CP you would only pay $15.

30$ for a cd? Hmm... I pay maybe 10-15. But yeah, it would be the opposite of what they want, but I'm not buy 2 cds just to listen in my car and in my room. That's like having 2 beds in case you decide to fall asleep in another room.

Apparently all you need to do is hold down the shift key when copying a cd to override the protection.
