If you want to see all of the critters from wild_qwerty's critter packs roaming around in your game, try the following.

Warning: this is a very rough preview, basically skeleton scripts, protos, and messages, that need to be tweaked and developed to make them really useful. The various attributes and modifiers need to be set, and the scripts do only random movement and examine functions at this point. But its cool to see all of the FoT FRMs in FO2.

You need to download all of the following:

1) Critter Pack Playground
2) All 8 critter packs
3) Art Pack 1
4) Behemoth FRM pack
5) Pacification Bot FRM pack

Later this will be a patch.dat file, but for now I recommend doing this with the files:

A) Rename your PATCH000.DAT file to PATCH000.SAV
B) Create a directory \Fallout2\PATCH000.DAT
C) Extract CritterPlayground-0.1.zip into \Fallout2\PATCH000.DAT
D) Extract the FRMs into your \fallout2\PATCH000.DAT\art directory. The critter packs, behemoth, and pacification bot all go in \art\critters. You need to be careful with the art pack. Extract the scenery items to \art\scenery, and the rest to \art\items.

Run the game. You should see all of the critters roaming around.
You will also see the scenery from art pack 1, and some of the items.

This is intended just to get a preview of the critter and art packs to see what they look like and how they move. I'd like to work on the scripts and protos to get them into good shape for use in mods. If anyone wants to take these scripts/protos/messages and work on them, by all means feel free to use them. I think it will take some time to tune all of the settings and scripts for all of this stuff.

If you want to tweak the proto settings in the mapper, I suggest doing the following

1) change your mapper2.cfg to
critter_patches=F:\Fallout2\PATCH000.DAT
master_patches=F:\Fallout2\PATCH000.DAT
(using your drive letter and FO2 location).
2) make sure you have librarian=1 set in mapper2.cfg
3) make sure you have the /dev/proto directories created.

If you want to play around with the scripts, the skeleton source code is here.
(anyone want to help with some of these scripts?).
Open the artemple.map in the mapper to edit the protos.

Let me know if this playground works or doesn't.
Also let me know if you have ideas for these critters.
This stuff could be made into one big expansion pack dat for use in mods.

I love the hover bot and the people are cool.
Those fuses are quite large :lol:
