I am a bit of a film buff, so it often intrigues me to think about how our favorite movies might have been different. Take for instance Die Hard With A Vengeance. Did you know it was originally meant to be a Lethal Weapon movie and one of the original endings was much darker and funnier than the one we got?

McClane and Carver head back to shore after the boat explodes. Carver notes that the villains are going to get away; McClane tells him not to be so sure. The scene cuts to Simon and his crew on board a plane when they suddenly discover the briefcase bomb that Simon had used on McClane and Carver in the park, the same one Carver gave back to the Mooks posing as cops. Presumably, the bomb used on the plane would have been a different one or not used to blow up a dam in a later sequence. Simon would then ask anyone on the plane if they had a 4-gallon jug, calling back to the disarming sequence from the park.

Any favorite deleted scenes or alternate endings you can think of?

I liked the alt ending for Dawn Of The Dead, seems like it would be far more fitting than the cartoonish ending we got.

I'll just cut it short and anyone who wants to read the detailed version can go here: http://www.angelfire.com/il/dawnofthedeadrules/page3.html

Peter is all blue and offs himself, Frannie hears the single shot from the chopper and decides she can't possibly continue on on her own so she opens the door and shoves her head into the helicopter blades. The scene is then filmed from an angle of the rooftop so that you can see a silhouette of the helicopter thanks to the sun rising and credits roll, after a minute or so it would show the helicopter slowing down as it ran out of gas. Meaning that even if they tried to escape they wouldn't have made it far.

The alternate ending to I am legend (2007) is much better than the one we got.

This is a very common opinion.
The one we got made no sense, the alternative is the original for all I care.

No, the ending we got is way better for me. Because it's dreamlike. It's almost not literally a happy ending, and it feels like we start with a nightmare ( the "hands" scene ) and end with a good dream. Like the protagonist was almost liberated through all the shit that happened to her. So it's kind of cathartic.

I'm still sad about romero by the way. Loved the old man. Another one for the fire, i guess.

Not actually an alt ending in the sense of this thread, but I liked how The Mist changed the ending in contrast to the book.

And now I see that there's a TV series about that book as well. Nice.

Wut?
You talking about Day Of The Dead?
I was talking about Dawn.

And personally since the ending of Day is so dreamlike I like to think of it as that the main protagonist at the very least died and that all of that is just a red herring.

Dawn. Have i messed them up? Doesn't dawn start with the dream sequence? The ending- with the island and the seagulls,is also very dreamy.

It made some sense but is... Thematically retarded. It goes back on the films basic message. I heard it was because of test screenings. Apparently realising you were wrong and your enemies are people is now officially more controversial than blowing them the fuck up.

Yep, it also misses the point of the original source material

I gave Aliens a rewatch the other day, going into the film after having a look back at Alien.

Despite already having a gripe with the theatrical version in comparison with its predecessor, the version I ended up watching was the Director's cut.

The amount of sequelitis that oozes from this scene is absolutely dreadful.

"Oh look, it's the alien spaceship thing from the first film! Remember that? It was in the first film!"

And, my god, the pacing in the director's cut is just garbage. While I disliked the jump from Ripley's trial to the company asking for her help; going from Newt's parents getting facehugged to Ripley reminiscing over her lost child is just hogwash.

Oh, and it happens to just be Newt's parents that go out to explore the spacecraft?

When talking about how "great" James Cameron is, I would just love to point out this version of the movie, and how terrible the first third of it is.

I honestly didn't liked it. The movie already deviated too much from the source material for it to pull this out.
In the Last Man on Earth, the main character was considered a monster for unknowingly killing sapient vampires in his systematic breaking and entering of homes to rid the area of vampires. The sapient vampires were also hunt mindless vampires. The main character is viewed as an indiscriminate killer that sneaking people's houses in the daytime kills them.
The act of turning them into zombies meant that it wasn't going to be the same movie anymore. It is just an adaptation with a similar premise and the same name just like World War Z the movie is to the book. Also, they don't seem to have intelligence beyond very intelligent pack animals.

I read that exact comment on the YouTube video of the alternate ending.

Thank god that Blade Runner's US Theatrical release ending was quickly scrapped before being shown in Euroland.

I like that both recently ran on SYFY (God I hate typing it like that) so people can watch both if they like before one is retconned.

I have the Ultimate Edition DVD boxset with seven versions of the movie. It is GLORIOUS.

Seven? Seven versions? I've been planning to watch this film but fucks sakes. Should I watch the final cut or what?
The final cut is the best. The box contains the final cut, the US theatrical release, the international theatrical release, the Director's Cut from 1992, and a work print version. Sorry, for some reason I had seven versions in mind, it's only five.

Can I get a brief list of reasons why it's the best?
