I'd say it was a script kiddie who exploited a commonly known vulnerability of a script they used.

Rex told me that RPGDot had upgraded to the latest phpBB version, which doesn't bode well.
That's the problem with small scale open source projects: If the quality assurance sucks it only takes a half-experienced cracker to point out "useful" security holes and millions of script kiddies will be able to utilize that knowledge.
Large scale open source forum projects tend to be a bit overkill tho, which is why I prefer coding my own stuff.

depends on what you're going to use it for... sometimes those forums do save a lot of work
If you have your own forum you can just re-use it everytime you need to.
