Dawn of the Dead

I was kinda disappointed by Dawn of the Dead actually...

Maybe it's my jaded experience with this type of movie but when the cast was pretty much set in stone (i.e. around the celebrity sniping bit) I was able to call the survivors and was only off by one. The end sequence was unfortunately formula and predictable.

Good acting from the cast, and kudos to the filmmakers for resiting the urge to make the mall filled with product placements (except for a certain soft drink company's water product).

Welsh, George Romero wrote the script for the Night of the Living Dead remake. Just thought i would mention it in case you did not know that.

Cheers Thorgrimm

Yes, I did and thought he did a great job at refashioning the story. The role of the girl at the cemetary ("they're coming to get you susan") was redone well so that finally she had more to say.

Also the Romero film was less about zombies than society and the tensions that ran in the house- middle class white family guy struggling with an intelligent and assertive black male, and because they can't agree and work together, they are crushed. That's the common theme in all the films- that people can't get over themselve to work together, leading to trajedy. In the remake the woman actually makes the most sense and sees the problem between the men, but the men can't get past their differences. Great.

finally saw it tonight....

Saw it twice.. Loved it... Especially the celeberty snipeing scene... and the remix of "Down with the sickness" I was singing that alll damn night after hearing it the first time.

That about sums up my assesment. I also loved when that huge truck was backing up and collecting blood from zombies' heads.

Ton's of violence, a little brief nudity, some good laughs to break the tension....It should be obvious that that's all your going to get from this movie.

A few comments:

Yeah, night of the living dead was fun and creepy. More fun than creepy, which is why I liked it even though I dont usually like horor movies. Dawn of the dead is not on movies here yet, but maybe i will watch it.

As for the Passion, I liked. Its a movie nobody can feel indiferent about (watch it and you will know what i mean). Although a bit extreme in the realism (a lot of blood, for instance), its a very touching movie even for convict atheists.

What's that new Tim Burton flick? Is that any good?

"Big Fish". Well what can I say, its a Tim Burton movie, so you know its eccentric, bizarre. I liked it. Interesting, and good to relax.
