DayZ

Heard news somewhere that it's becoming its' own game. They will still keep the mod around but they are apparently working on a standalone DayZ. I guess it will be similar to what happened to Counter Strike.

Yep. It's called WarZ or something. Could be running on the ArmA III engine, but that's just what I read on an online chat.
 
WarZ is something different. Well, it is a DayZ clone.

The stand alone DayZ will probably be called DayZ.
 
Spawned. Just I looked through the map, failed to find my location, and ran off north, I was shot by a fellow spawner. Telling them that I'm friendly obviously didn't help.

EDIT: Now, of course I can't say I didn't act like a douche myself. Some kind of cheater spawned a box (for me) with plenty of ammo, all sorts of weapons, grenades, equipment - you name it. After unloading a full clip of ammo on him, I killed a few dozen zed and then camped another player. Then the admin killed me.

Looks like that box caused a lot of trouble for the server. Now there's an active hunt and I was shot to the leg so I would have to crawl there. Then a bunch of other guys appeared and there was a shootout. Before managing a shot, I was killed.
 
Better don't use cheated items. There is a chance that you will get banned on the main server, which means you will need to buy the game again if you want to continue playing. At least that's what they did to folks when I was still playing it some months ago.

If you know the map you can be rockin' and rollin' with an assault rifle in an hour at most. I feel bad for some guy who might have just gotten the game and finding a "cheat box o' goodies" and having no idea it is there illegally and having his client banned. (run on sentence? gah writing skills..)

Gob damn cheaters piss me off. Except in lame ass Domi Arma 2 when some guy drops 10000 bombs on our base. That shit is always hilarious. :twisted:
 
Hah indeed. Just encountered another cheater - by the ironic name Karma - who would spawn wherever you were with badass equipment.

Of course, I hid, and then told him to give me his weapon. Then I unloaded the sniper rifle into him, and dropped it. Later on, he came back to kill me. Shot me in the back as I walked away from him.

Two killed cheaters in one day? This game can be quite exciting. Especially the one with the magical box.
