Dead Rising 4

Because killing zombies is fun? It was a game without anything frustrating and I was able to complete without difficulty. Entertaining throughout. Can anyone who has played the game say what they thought wasn't fun?

It was fun.

Very fun.

It just had a lot of what made the game unique removed.

I was going to give it a higher rating for fun but there was just too much removed.

Mindlessly killing zombies is NOT what the originals were about, time management was key to those games, killing zombies actually made you LOSE the game if you did it mindlessly.

But even if you did just want to kill zombies mindlessly you could, you'd just suffer the consequences story-wise, and rightfully so.

I've played them since the first game and for me the best part of the game is exploration, zombie killing, and wearing silly costumes.

Also rescuing survivors.

:)

The awesome conspiracy stories as well as fun characters are work too.

Exactly, but the plot and story are the major part of any game, right?

Those are all secondary to the plot, survivors are more important than zombie killing.

survivors are more important than zombie killing.
In fact, survivor rescues earn more PP than most actions in those games (not sure about 3 or 4 though). Killing zombies doesn't earn as much (unless you purposefully killed every zombie and reached the established milestones).

Eyup, survivors give you LOADS of PP (Pee pee?).

Dead Rising 2 with unlocked combined weapons with their cards can give a lot of Pee pee too.

I don;t mind the mindlessness of dead rising 4. I don't even mind the lack of a time limit or whatever. Okay it makes its a massive zombie killing sandbox call. But its just the lack of detail to little things in the world that won't really get you interested in it really. I mena you can't even shoot zombies on the floor ? It does't do anything. Just these small details that would make you keep coming back to the game aren't there.

It's just not dead rising though it just an zombie killing sandbox. Witch is fine but why did it have to be called dead rising ? Even dead rising off the record had to modes with the optional snadbox mode like wtf. Just have an optional sandbox mode and a main story I mean come on its not that hard. I for fuck sake the could of many the world bigger and more intresting at least. And make it online so it would of been atleast little bit fun

So from what I've watched and read, things I don't like would be:

Can't use anything as a weapon? Well that's bollocks.

Psychopaths renamed as maniacs? Why? Psychopaths are a core element of Dead Rising (certainly more dangerous than the zombies) and frankly, the word "psychopath" is much more effective and memorable than "maniac".

The whole "immortality instead of beef" thing...do I really need to comment on that?

Biggest one is the removal of the timer. I get it, it would be nice to just fuck around for a bit with no penalties. Off the Record had the Sandbox, which is great, but after a while it does get boring having nothing to do but kill zombies. The timer makes you think carefully on what mission you do next. Do you risk fighting a Psychopath or do you give them a miss to save more survivors? Dead Rising 2 also had Zombrex, obviously you had to find some and get back to Katey before she turned.

Oh god.

Bucket drill is best waifu.

My favourite is the Blitzkrieg. Electric wheelchair with mounted machine guns? Hell yeah!

The Blitzkrieg was my method of grinding when there were no survivors to rescue. The PP bonus was nice but the best part is hearing that Stephen Hawking voice calling for zombies to "die".

Yes, the Sandbox mode of Off the Record kind of underwhelms as you can't fight Psychopaths or rescue survivors or do anything BUT explore and kill zombies. In Dead Rising 4, I felt like I had a more time to explore the various locations but I also could fight the Maniacs and zombies at my own pace. I will say that the lack of the timer did seriously disrupt the game's urgency but it's a short game anyway and one I felt gave me my money's worth at 12:30 hours.

Even so, yes, I'm going to say its objectively inferior to Dead Rising 2 (one of my all time favorite games) and Dead Rising 1.

I think of Chuck Greene as one of my favorite heroes in video games as he managed to be a goody-two-shoes papa wolf without being annoying or unbelievable.

I was disappointed they made him a crime boss in 3.
