Debut trailer of Dragon Age

Looks like it's going to be a dark, gritty take on high fantasy. Unfortunately, that trailer reveals absolutely nothing about the game other than that.

Gah, I can tell nothing more than it might be good because Bioware is involved, but thats all... unfortunately eh?

I would enjoy a game that takes that style of combat to a more realistic level (less fantasy). Maybe something with a compelling storyline dripping with atmosphere, cause and effect... Exactly how Oblivion wasn't.

i have no idea what this shit is about :)

You mean you don't know what Dragon Age is?

Pretty much BioWare's last attempt to do a somewhat more traditional RPG (BG ++, really) for PCs before they finally give up on the genre and platform and turn permanently to Xbox FPSRPGs.

The Last Hope. So to speak. If you're a BioWare fan.

Fear almost was that EA pulled the project, or turned it to consoles, but it looks like they're just letting it run.

Setting looks yawn. Predictable high fantasy. But who knows what might pop up.

Personally I don't care about story much if it comes wrapped in a sucky game.

Also, I didn't play Mass Effect, but Jade Empire's story was pure lame. It had its moments, but mostly...lame.

Yes I agree, as far as I'm concerned story is merely an addon. Torment could've been a lot better if someone hadn't been crapping all over their keyboard while creating the game's combat.

We shall see...I still enjoy the Baldur's Gate games for what they were and play them from time to time. Judging by the state of the CRPG industry nowadays, I will at least try this one...

I don't like fantasy worlds, but this game looks like it's worth a try. Judging by interface, it's a PC game first and a party-based RPG, which is surely interesting.

Argh, is anyone else as sick of fantasy names as I am? "For Therogen!" or whatever he calls. Jesus. Just say for the king or something.

This could be good. Lately, BioWare = great story.

I still have a copy of Shattered Steel that still has a place on Biowares website even though its nearing 20 years of age. There are many murmurs of a Shattered Steel 2... while mech warrior games do not interest me, for nostalgias sake, I'd check it out.

I am looking forward to this game, as I have a desire to play a modern party based top down traditional rpg and this is likely the only game to fit the bill. Also I have never played a Bioware game I did not like.

This might be interesting, this kind of RPGs are the daily bread of a die hard RPG fan - not wonderful, but enjoyable.

i havent had a lot of time to follow games in development lately. (to my own dismay)

but i've never been a huge BG fan and BioWare as a whole usually makes rather fun games, but nothing really special as far as i'm concerned. so following BioWare development is pretty low on my priority list (as i'll surely hear about it if it's worth anything anyway).

anyhow, thanks for enlightning me :)

Kindly don't break the forum boundaries with extremely large pictures. I don't like having to scroll horizontally to read posts. Just provide a link to the picture.

Yea, Jade Empire has a relatively weak story for BioWare but even it has a great idea behind it and not a bad twist.

Story can make up for a lot actually: Arcanum and Plenscape don't have the best gameplay to say the least but they're absolute classics. Story is a big part of it for me but for some it's just an addon and that makes a lot of sense too. BioWare games often have fun gameplay though so this could indeed be good.

Also, it's cool to see another important game come out in top down isometric.

BTW, gameplay was shown on livewire yesterday, it looks not bad. I definetely will give it a try.
