Demon's Souls

Yes.

And also, google.

Sex, facial structure, hair, and sex.

Then starting class, which the stats are based on your fighting style rather than alot of RPGS that have redundant ones.

Then you level your character on how ever you want to fight enemies and negotiate obstacles.

This game has a half/pseudo-realistic fighting system where your fighting style revolves around the weapons and equipment you use determined by your stats and preferred fighting style. There's even a small Parry/Riposte system, which is great for classes that carry rapiers or bucklers. Also all of the weapons have specific effects to certain enemies and armors, which is a really big breath of fresh air after playing hand-to-hand combat based games that have baby-hand-holding and ADHD controls and systems like Assassin's Creed where fighting is basically holding down the parry button and waiting to counter attack with Hong-Kong cinema type tomfoolery. And then there's the long list of magic spells.

You actually feel like a heavily armored solider with a spear and shield clanking your way up the battlements into enemies, or a thief stalking your way through the levels due to the weapon system used.

The levels might get redundant after a while like most hack/slashers, but the variety of enemies, level designs, and obstacles keeps it fresh after every area. And just like in real-life "almost", one screwed up movement can have you getting your bowels impaled because you weren't paying attention. It's fucking awesome.

Plus it makes you feel like a man.

Seriously.

Playing this game will make you grow more chest hair.

You just need patience to make it through the gauntlets of hell without dieing.

Though, I certainly would say this game would be alot better if there was a true coop system, or maybe a mass battle system. This is the fighting system I wished MMO's that had massive raids/battles would have used. So the idea of only getting to meet with other players rarely and only one at a time feels like a massive case of blue balls. Ahh well.

it really does sound awesome and I'm still considering getting a PS3 to be able to play it.

Just like Dopemine said, that's not the only good game on the ps3. Call me an idiot/moron/blind fanboy but the game really is worth buying a ps3 for. Of course...that depends on what kind of a gamer you are. It's not a game for everyone.

I bought a PS3 only for Metal Gear Solid 4 so I can see where you are coming from. At this point however with the price drop and the current library I would say there is enough of a reason to purchase a PS3.

the Metal Gear games are pretty much the only games beside Demon's Souls I want to play on the PS3. there are probably others I don't know of yet though.

how is the PS3 when it comes to backwards-compatibility? can I play all my old PS games on it?

PS 1? or PS 2?

Some games will run, but not all of it. There is no official list. The loading time will be slower on some games. It also depends on what generation you get.

lol, btw, no offense to people, but the more I read about this game, the more I feel it's not that much different from like DW. :P

I think you can play almost all of the PS1 games on the ps3. You can also download some of them from the psn store. prices range from 4,99 to 9,99.

As for ps2 games. The first NTSC versions of the ps3(the 60 gb and the 20 gb versions) had hardware-based backwards compatibility and they could play all of the ps2 games. Then after that there was the newer 60 gb and the 80 gb versions. they had Partially software-based PS2 emulation. but they had 65 nm chips instead of 90 nm chips.(less power consumption, less heat).

both versions are no longer in production anymore.
Nowdays you have the slim versions which don't have any ps2 backwards compatibility(you also can't install linux on them anymore) but they have 45 nm chips(go figure!). I think it's best to go with the slim version. also buy your ps3 from amazon.com because they give you 2 years of warranty instead of the normal 1 year warranty. at least that's how it works here in Austria.

also, check this out for info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_3

You can also download the original Wolfenstein 3D pack and play it on an HD TV.

And you can also do the same with internet porn.

MMM.

lol, my computer is used for internet, not PS3. I buy consoles for gaming, not connectivity. :P

Borrowed a copy, still not seeing how Amazing it is. Any recommendations to let me see how Awesome it is?

This game is definitely on my must-play list, I just hope that by the time I get it, there will still be people playing it so I can check out its' online component.

Play a Magician and run through levels as fast as possible. Preferably while drunk.

Or try to beat the game using the Temple Knight while only using the halbred two-handed strong attack, and quoting the heavy from TF2.

Seriously, I beat the phalanx in 15 seconds with that attack with turpentine, and then ran straight through to the tower knight and chopped his feet off and stabbed his face. There was epic Russian accents.

Sony decided to scrap backwards-compatibility on the newer systems in favor of putting all the classics on the PSN that you have to pay for. Not a bad way to milk consumers.

That has to do what with Demon's Souls?

Also, PS3 is compatible with PS1 games, the ones that are on sale over PSN.

It's not compatible with PS2 games.

Got this game last week, and I love it. It's challenging, but rewards smart play and punishes stupidity.

Great game... and I love the online integration.
