I hear that part of this FO will take place near or in denver, well 1 hour and a half away from denver is Cheyanne Mountain, and in that Mt. is NORAD. It would be cool if there was side mission or a "real" mission taking place inside or around NORAD because Tecnically Norad would be untouched by the war and vandals.

sounds good

Thats a good point and a great idea. It would be awsome to see that in the game.

Aren't the BOS made up of US Military survivors? If that's the case, then you know the BOS has either looted there or has a sect from/based there.

I belive that the BOS is a Wesern united staes (mainly california) group founded by people who defected from the Union at the Mariposa Millitary Base right before the war, Since they are so close to other Millitary Bases, Edwards Airforce Base, The Glow, Mariposa, etc. they probably never had any interest in the other bases until they went to investigate the masters army. NORAD is a EXTREMLY well protected base, its the most important building in the USA. I would take a very VERY VERY long time to get in if you did not know how to. And I doubt the BOS knew how to get into the base and they did not bother with it (nor did anyone else) until now when they went across to chase the masters army.

You sure they defected from the Union during the war? I don't remember them doing that.

Still, as you have stated, NORAD could probably survive the nuclear war by itself. If it did survive, with the people in it, then there's always the possibility that they would have hooked up with the Brotherhood of Steel at some point once they got their communications working.

I think one of the priorities after the nukes fell would be to contact other military installations, and we all know the Brotherhood made their base in one of those. :)

yep the founder of BOS (Col Maxson I belive) worked at the Mariposa Millitary Base (where the vats are) and if you look at his journal using the main computer at the vats (only in FO1) you find (among other things) that he and all other soilders there ceaded from the Union, and they transmitted thier message but never recieved a reply. Also thats very true most of the people in NORAD probably would have survived and tried to contact the nearby millitary bases (sattalites?) such as the Air Force Academy, Edwards Air Force Base, SAD, The Glow, Mariposa, etc. But was the place where BOS setteled after the exodus a founded millitary base in that world? if so theres a very good chance of NORAD contacting them and getting a reply and I agree with you this is probably what happened. And if this is the case a side mission for Denver area would be to go to Norad and make human to human contact b/c as far as we know this is the first time BOS as been near Denver NORAD could also be a in-game resupply point and more game info point, and an all around fun place to visit and explore.

If you recall, gents, what the computer in the Gecko power plant has to say about NORAD?

NORAD...Offline

Isn't that the power or maitenece bot? Well this means that the power went out or the maintence bot is offline, this probably means all the people are dead inside but it could still be sealed from the outside and BOS might know how to get in. Its very hard to get into NORAD, even w/o power

Maybe they shutdown the power after they hooked up with the Brotherhood! Mwuhahahah! ;)

Actually, the Brotherhood could have called out to NORAD instead. After all, their primary interest up until the Vault Dweller showed up on their doorstep was to preserve technology. They would have to know the importance of NORAD from a technology stand point. Also, anyone who beat them to NORAD would be a huge threat to their existance.

No, Skynet.

When you wish to perform any of the Gecko Power Plant's other functions (cleaning, etc.) it says it doesn't have the program file or somesuch in memory, and offers to download it from another source in the PoseidoNet. As it searches, it states: "NORAD...Offline, SAC...Offline" and another, which I can't recall at the moment.

The only places that are online are those operated by the Enclave.

Hmm, that means the computers are offline. I would not be suprised if NORAD had alternate power systems in case of an attack but even they would not last that long. This means that probably all the people are dead in NORAD, but that does not mean it has been penetrated. and if BOS was in contact with NORAD that means that NORAD probably gave BOS directions on how to get in.
