Diamond Heist Victimizes Belgians, yay!

So I was going to make this a topic about a diamond heist in my hometown, in which $1,5 million stones were stolen from foreign attendants at an international fair, but then I googled a recent story from Antwerp, worth $28 million.

So nothing to brag about, though we did enjoy a frantic police investigation, with roadblocks et al.

Intriguing though, that in both cases the thieves seem to have acquired the code cards allowing for access to the vaults.

Is that some kind of a new trend, to, like, leave those lying around? Or is it some part of a larger scheme ? ;)

the big heist had nothing to do with acquiring code cards. the thief was a client to the vault for one full year (in which he took his time to figure out everything). he often visited twice a day (which isn't weird when you're supposed to deal with diamonds).

1 year preparation versus +- 28 million US dollars. not a bad investment, huh?

anyway, since Antwerp is the diamond capital of the world, yes diamond heists do happen every 5 years or so. usually small ones though, unlike the last one.

it's a huge business, yet the security aint tight. if they earn so much money, yet cant be arsed to invest in security measures: fuck them, they deserved it...

At least when Danzig was still German such things would not happen, damnit.

Yet another sad consequence of the land-grab by the evil Poles in the Second Partition of Germany...

Uhm. You do realize the city was founded by Mieszko I, right?

Whomever founded it, it was still in German (Teutonic) hands for a total of 650 or so years, while it was in pure Polish hands for about 350 or so years.

You do the math, suckah.

I will, you pulled those "350 years" out of your feathery ass.

997-1308: 311 years.

1466-1793: 327 years.

1945-2007: 62 years.

311+327+62= 700 years.

So dude, where did you get that 350 from? Invalidating the Polish-Lithuanian commonwealth by saying it wasn't "pure Polish hands", whilst at the same time considering the Teutonic order and the kingdom of Prussia hardcore Germans?

Puh-lease.

anyway, no one gives a fuck about Poles, or about their history. they just make good herbal vodka, that's about it.

Right about now, I'm expecting Wooz to start claiming that "THE POLES BUILDET THE PYRAMIDS! :!: :!: :!:  REALLY :!:  "

Jebus, name a building in the United Kingdom and Poles have built it :D

Incidentally, Danzig and the rest of the stuff they grabbed in XVIII century did not quite enjoy prosperity throughout the following Steam Age. Antemurale germanica they were, buffer zone good only for making sure no Russian Zerg reach the shiny rich parts of Brandenburd and Saxony. To see rich traders showing off their stones here, you'd have to go, like, back to XVI century or something...
